Weekend Round Up – WrestleCorp and ComicCorp News

After this weekend, I figured this was the best idea to recap some of the news. As neither the world of pro wrestling or comics had to much to offer, we’ve combined them for this offering. Also, the second episode of GameCorp is going up after this, but won’t be part of the podbean set up, yet. I’m working on Podbean and had hopes to have it set up today, but that’s not going to happen for at least a day or two.

WrestleCorp News

Mike Bennett Done? – There are reports going around that the WWE has already soured on Mike and Maria Kanellis. While sources are very coy as to why, one told me “…you read the news.” Lately, the only news that’s come out so far has been Mike Kanellis (Bennett) dealing with his recovery from pill addiction. Now, one can assume this may have something to do with his recent announcement. One can also infer that the WWE might be giving the Kanellis’ time off so Mike can adjust to his sobriety. It goes hand in hand, that a man overcoming his addictions is a hard thing indeed to jeer. Either way, it appears as though the WWE seems to have slowed their push, possibly only for the time being.

Sexy Star Incident – Down in Mexico, during the Reinas de Reinas title match, Sexy Star locked Rosemary into a submission hold held on, torqued it beyond the point of necessity, and apparently dislocated the arm. Star has, up until this writing, remained silent but Rosemary has out and out said that Star intentionally did so and then lied about it, saying she didn’t realize she was working Rosemary’s arm intentionally. Rosemary also claims that the other two wrestlers in the match were on the other side of Star’s unnecessary stiffness. Vampiro tried to make things right, but apparently that ended when word hit Rosemary that Star was saying the whole thing was a work. Star went from being a woman’s icon last year, to be a pariah of wrestling this year.

ComicCorp News

Shazam Won’t Using De-Aging Technology – David F. Sandberg spoke recently to Collider and revealed that he doesn’t intend to de-age his Shazam actor, like Marvel did with Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 3. Instead he will have a child and adult actor play the roles of Billy Batson and Shazam respectively. He’s quoted as saying;

I wouldn’t want to do that. That seems like way too much of a hassle. So I think it’s just kind of best to have a kid and an adult.

When the question of Kurt Russell’s most recent appearance in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II” and how they used the technology there, he replied with;

Yeah and they’ve done quite well, I mean Kurt Russell was in the latest Guardians was really well made I thought, but I think there’s a limit to it as well. You probably can’t do someone to be a kid. Why create that hassle for yourself?”

Gotham City Sirens Update – Despite rumors to the contrary, it appears as though “Gotham City Sirens” isn’t cancelled but merely postponed for the time being. An exec with Warner Bros. confirmed that the film is still in consideration.

Orlando Bloom’s New Fantasy Noir Thriller – Orlando Bloom is set to star in a new Noir thriller for Amazon, where Bloom will play a police inspector named Rycroft Philostrate, and will attempt to get to the bottom of a faerish refugee’s death.

Synopsis;

Carnival Row is a fantasy-noir set in a neo-Victorian city. Mythical creatures fleeing their war-torn homeland have gathered in the city, and tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population. The series follows the investigation of a string of unsolved murders that are eating away at whatever uneasy peace still exists.
