Major Pro Wrestler Talking to WWE/GFW, Major AAA Star Quits, and More! – WrestleCorp News

It’s a little late, but we’re back for another run down on the biggest stories of the day. Lets talk some wrasslin’ shall we?

Major Name Talking to WWE/GFW? – After years of back and forth, there is currently a big chance that Global Force Wrestling (previously known as TNA), could finally lock down Rey Mysterio Jr., this according to Sports Illustrated. It should be noted that Mysterio is talking to WWE, GFW and Lucha Underground, his current home. It’s being said a lot of Lucha Underground stars are disgruntled with the promotion (from a separate source), and two of them at least, Mysterio and Taya Valkyrie are hoping to land (to some degree) in GFW.

It’s noted that Mysterio’s contract is technically up, as he’s filmed all of his matches, but that he can’t negotiate until 90 day’s after his last match airs. Sports Illustrated also announced that GFW wants to move away from Alberto El Patron, and apparently I’m told they are currently taking action to find the next person to put the belt on.

AAA Star Quits – In a bit of disappointing news, AAA has apparently seen the last of previously mentioned Taya Valkyrie. Apparently she wasn’t happy at all with the companies decision to put the belt on Sexy Star, who had left the company for a short time to pursue boxing. AAA wasn’t happy that Valkyrie choked out former GFW star Ayako Hamadain in a match, and stripped her of the title. It should be noted that Taya and Star have been tag partners in the past, so it makes sense she feels betrayed more by the company. And too be fair, outside of Faby Apache, the next biggest women’s wrestler in Mexico is Sexy star.

GFW Announces Expanded NOAH Deal – GFW and NOAH are going to continue working together, and have already booked a second tour this year with Eddie Edwards and Moose going back to NOAH. Below are the details, including who’s working for GFW going forward.

Global Force Wrestling Welcomes Back Stars From Pro Wrestling NOAH

Ishimori To Compete At Destination-X; GFW Stars Moose & Eddie Edwards Will Compete in Japan In October

Nashville – Global Force Wrestling (GFW), a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp., announced today that it is expanding its talent exchange with Tokyo-based Pro Wrestling NOAH.
Taiji Ishimori, the three-time and reigning Global Honored Crown (GHC) Junior Heavyweight Champion from Pro Wrestling NOAH, returns to IMPACT Wrestling on Thursday, Aug. 17, to participate in Destination-X, live on Pop TV and broadcast to more than 120 countries worldwide. Ishimori was a show-stealer in his GFW debut on July 2, at Slammiversary 15, originating from The Impact Zone on the backlot of Universal Studios Florida.

Ishimori was joined at Slammiversary by Naomichi Marufuji.

“All of us at GFW are excited to continue to grow our relationship with Pro Wrestling NOAH,” said GFW Vice President of International Relations Scott D’Amore. “Having Ishimori back competing in the six-sided GFW ring at Destination-X shows our commitment to showcasing the very best athletes from around the world.”

There is no confirmation yet on additional Pro Wrestling NOAH talent that will be in Orlando for Destination-X and the ensuing TV tapings for IMPACT Wrestling, D’Amore said.

GFW stars also will be heading to Japan later this year to participate in Great Voyage 2017, vol. 2 from Pro Wrestling NOAH on Sunday, Oct. 1. GFW stars Moose and Eddie Edwards will be competing in Japan. Edwards was in Japan earlier this year, along with “Cowboy” James Storm.

“GFW is excited and honored to be part of the Great Voyage from Pro Wrestling NOAH,” D’Amore said. “Moose and Eddie Edwards are two amazing athletes who will be great representatives for GFW and IMPACT Wrestling.

“These talent collaborations are examples of how GFW and its international promotional partners continue to work together on an unprecedented level to provide a truly global audience with the very best action in the wrestling business.”

Quick Hits – The time change for “Talking Smack” were not the reason why the WWE cancelled the show according to Dave Meltzer’s theory. World Association of Wrestling stripped Alberto El Patron of their Heavyweight title. ROH has announced former GFW title holders Seiya Sanada and Cody Rhodes will face off for the ROH World Heavyweight Title during the ‘War Of The Worlds U.K.’ event.
