Weekend Roundup – WrestleCorp

Well this weekend was a bit productive, but not with hearty news. Just more…meh news.

Hardy Boy/GFW Alleged Deal – Sports Illustrated is apparently claiming to have the details of the deal between GFW and The Hardy’s over the ‘Broken’ gimmick that was created in GFW.

Jeff Jarrett has never shied away from being a fan of Jeff Hardy, their history in TNA/GFW together shows that. However, Jarrett has also never liked Matt all that much, so it’s not surprising that S.I. claims Jeff got a huge deal offered while Matt did not. (I’ve heard that Jarrett was going to push Jeff hard).

The deal would also pay somewhere between the $10-15,000 range. With a $1,000 first time fine for anything detrimental that Reby Sky would tweet. That fine would then be escalated to $5,000 for every tweet thereafter.

The Hardy’s would also pay a portion of the Broken gimmick up to 50% and considering how much that gimmick would make, and how little upfront they’d have to sell it or, it makes sense. There’s also a claim that there would be money paid from Jeff Hardy and his band to GFW. Keep in mind, all of that was agreed upon, until Matt and Jeff changed the deal, in essence killing the deal.

GFW responded with the following quote;

WWE has clearly stated via email that they do not want the ‘Broken Brilliance’ IP [intellectual property]. GFW has been and always will be open to a licensing agreement for the IP to all parties, which is customary in the music and entertainment business, but revolutionary in the professional wrestling business.

WWE Officials Upset Over MYC – The Mae Young Classic filmed up to their finals this weekend, and apparently WWE officials were unhappy with many of the women, considering them too ugly to be WWE wrestlers. Which is about what I expected from the WWE.

Kenny Omega Slams CWC – Kenny Omega wasn’t too happy with Kota Ibushi passing up last years G1 Climax to compete in the Cruserweight Classic. Apparently, Omega slammed Ibushi’s decision to be just a participant.

After you left me all alone. To fend for myself. I never stopped training. I never stopped sacrificing. I never stopped feeling the pain, I never ran away like you did. So if you can make it to the finals, that’s where I’ll be waiting. And then finally I’ll make you feel the pain, Ibushi. And I’ll show you through my actions, everything that I felt while you were away – after you threw me away – to accomplish your own dream. Your own pipe dream of becoming a world famous CWC participant.

Quick Hits – Ryback and Dana ‘Warrior’ exchange a disagreement over the alleged ‘Warrior’ vs. Ryback match at WrestleMania 30. Kurt Angle wants CM Punk back in the WWE, and uh, I don’t have the heart to laugh at his wish. Dezmond Xavier and his partner Zachary Wentz captured the AAW Tag Team Championships. Both RAW Talk and Talking Smack were apparently cancelled by the WWE Network. Despite Kairi Sane using the elbow drop in the MYC, apparently she won’t be using it when she joins the roster.
