IMPACT’s out of the box thinking might bring back a former star

IMPACT Wrestling continues to be dynamic with their roster additions and may seek to add a former star to the mix of growing talent.

IMPACT Wrestling has been balancing veteran stars with young up and comers for a while now. With additions to the roster like Rhino, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, and more recently Ken Shamrock, it looks like IMPACT isn’t shying away from other viable talents.

Nor should they, when you look at the top stars that drive the promotion, they’re all under 40. Brian Cage, Sami Callihan, Tessa Blanchard, The North, The Rascalz, Eddie Edwards and Moose are all young in the world of pro wrestling.  None of them have hit that peak yet when talent starts to decline.

So it’s no surprise that IMPACT is once again going to that well of “out there” additions with the rumors of Monty Brown returning to the promotion. IMPACT has been referencing the former star on their flagship show, and have been uploading social media content featuring the ex-NFL player-turned-wrestler. This was the same thing IMPACT did with Rob Van Dam, Ken Shamrock and others.

It’s not confirmed by anyone I’ve spoken to but I’ve been hearing through the grapevine that the hope is to have Brown on the roster fora few matches leading into the throwback “TNA” event in April of next year during WrestleMania weekend. None of this from anyone from within IMPACT but more of a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend situation. So it’s only a rumor at this point.

None of this should come as a surprise however, as Monty Brown has started popping back up in the wrestling mainstream again. He’s once again active on Twitter while making a few appearances in 2019 alone. Once in a tag team match back in February and again on a charity show in May where he appeared but didn’t’ wrestle.

The ramping up of Monty Brown references on IMPACT Wrestling could just be a “coincidence” but this isn’t’ the first time IMPACT has done this exact method when bringing back a former star. There’s absolutely no reason to believe that IMPACT is all of a sudden now changing how they do things. I’d bet one dollar, Canadian, that Brown is back by the end of the year.
