DC Films Shake Up – DC Films and Warner Bros hhave taped Walter Hamada to be president of production of DC Films. He’ll be overseeing the studio’s comic book movies going forward. He used to be a prodcution executive at New Line Films, and helped produce hits like ‘IT” and “The Conjuring”. Former DC Film head Jon Berg is now working with Roy Lee, while Geoff Jons will be retained in a different role. That’s the only real shakeup as of right now.
In a bit of a funny update, Geoff Johns just tweeted a welcoming of sorts to Hamada and then proceed to tell to get a Twitter account. That dude has some brass ones.
Fox Update – So despite selling off everything relevant, Fox is going ahead wit things and will rebrand themselves “New Fox” after their studios are given over to Disney in full. Fox Broadcasting Network (your regional Fox station if you will), Fox news and Fox Sports will continue to operate and Fox will focus heavily on reality and sport driven media according to Fox co-chairman Dana Walden. They’ll also still run scripted series on their Fox Broadcast channel, but they cite companies like Warner Bros. and Sony who will be supplying the shows. Which also means shows like “The Gifted” will still have a station to air on, should Disney want that. No word on what’ll happen to their cable shows though, like “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Archer”.
‘Black Lighting’ Shows Off New Costume – Black Lighting is a rare character in the DC Universe, mostly because he’s one of the few people in the world who passed down his powers to both of his children. The plot of the show features Black Lighting and his family (eventually) suiting up to fight crime and for the first time we have a look at what his daughter, code name Thunder, will look like. Thunder is Anissa Pierce, played by Nafessa Williams. Check out her look below;
Quick Hits – The Gifted was renewed for a second season at Fox. Animaniacs reboot gets a two season order from Hulu. Game of Thrones won’t return for the final six episodes until 2019. Which is stupid. A new tweet from the folks at the official Arrow twitter account is hinting at two teams of heroes being involved in the second half of the year.
