Corgan/NWA News – Billy Corgan has finally revealed plans for the NWA. Firstly, he wants to turn it into a studio show, ala IMPACT Wrestling or the old Georgia Championship Wrestling. There is no rush to sign talents, as they feel the steps to building the promotion need to be ‘measured’. He mentions that the NWA has a “20 year plan” and doesn’t plan on just dumping money into the product over the course of a two year period. However, one of the big revelations was that they tried to enter into a deal with Anthem, parent company of IMPACT Wrestling. The deal, which I’m told would of made Anthem minority owners, would of given them two American/Canadian based promotions to be parlayed against one another, as Corgan states, like RAW and SmackDown.
We’ve made various overtures to Anthem along the way and they’ve made various overtures to me. We haven’t found anything that is ideal, and I’m a firm believer that if a deal doesn’t go both ways, then it’s not a good deal to make. If the NWA was going to be involved in some level with Anthem, we’d want it to be a good way all the way around. We made a very aggressive offer in the last month to go in and help reboot the company. We’d have helped Impact stay more in the lane of the traditional Impact brand, and then set up the NWA as a natural rival, a la Raw versus SmackDown. Unfortunately, we didn’t get where we wanted with that offer.
WWE/India Update – Despite spending a hell of a lot of time and money to prime the region, India hasn’t been receptive to Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion. For this reason, they’ve altered plans for the India tour. However, we now know that December 7th and 8th, will be the days the WWE tours the sub-continent. The shows will be RAW events, with Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, The Shield, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, The Miz AND Smackdown Heavyweight Champion, Jinder Mahal. So it looks like he’ll be champ heading into December.
Shane Costing his Mother? – The New York Daily News is reporting that Shane McMahon has invested $500,000 into EnviroGrow, a Connecticut-based company that sells modules to assist in legal marijuana growth. The reason why this story, which is two years old, is being posted today is due to his mother, Linda being part of the cabinet of the President. Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General of the Administration has been hard-lined about wanting stronger marijuana laws in place. The association of Shane’s business, and Trump hiring Linda (who’s a long time friend of Trump) seems to showcase a double standard that might hurt all parties involved.
CWFH Adds T.V. Channels – Championship Wrestling from Hollywood has really carved out a nice foothold in wrestling. They were once known as NWA: Hollywood, and was home for a lot of the Cabana/Pearce NWA title feud. They, like OVW, would feature a local affiliate and then upload their shows onto their respective outlets. Now CWFH has a deal with Fite, the app that uploads it’s content directly to the service. Also, they’ve now added a slew of new t.v. channels to their repertoire. While most networks are from smaller markets, it’s still good to see. The show is expected to air at 7 a.m. in most networks, except Alaska, which is a 6 a.m. broadcast.
