Bellator 231 Adds Grand Prix Finals

The Welterweight Grand Prix has been one of the best things going for Bellator in 2019.  Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald survived a first round draw against Jon Fitch to advance on and redeem himself against Neiman Gracie.

MacDonald’s opposition is the man he beat for the Welterweight Championship, Douglas Lima.  Lima defeated top Bellator welterweight Michael ‘Venom’ Page, and Andrey Koreshkov to get into the finals of the Grand Prix.

MacDonald will be looking for his 2nd successful defense of the belt against Lima at Bellator 231, an event that right now only has one bout on the card.   Bellator 231 takes place on Saturday, October 26th from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The next Grand Prix, the Featherweight Grand Prix kicks off September 7th from the SAP Center in San Jose, California.  The main event on that card is Ryan Bader defending his Heavyweight Championship against Cheick Congo, while the first four bouts of the Featherweight Grand Prix make up the undercard.  The event will also feature 2x Bellator Featherweight Champ and Bellator icon Pat Curran on the card as he takes on rising prospect Ádám Borics.

If you’re not watching Bellator MMA, you should.
