ABC Not Going Forward With ‘All Female’ Marvel Superhero Show and More Nerd News

Deadline is reporting that the purposed idea for an all-female lead Marvel show is dead at ABC.  Thank, God. The trend for right now by Marvel is to do as many ‘female-lead’ outlets as possible but if sales and online chatter is any indication, this isn’t what fans want.

Now too be clear, I’m not against female lead shows.  I’m against an ‘only’ mentality though.  I like(d) Supergirl at first because it was a Supergirl lead show, with Superman, Guardian and Martian Manhunter in her story.  Like Arrow, Flash, Legends and Titans; something for everyone.

For the life of me, I can’t think of a ‘male-only’ lead superhero show or movie for sometime.  Even the early Marvel films had strong female characters .

I’m all for more shows and movies that showcase BOTH men and women fighting and living in harmony alongside one another; because anything other than equality is something that the world does not need.

That being said, I’d be all for a She-Hulk show.

In Other News…

Despite it being an R-rating and not inline with most of (or any) of the MCU as a whole (besides those Netflix shows but even then, not really), Diseny’s CEO Bob Iger is open to doing not just a 3rd Deadpool film, but also X-Force and other R-rated films as well.  With them now owning Fox Studios (not the Fox channels), they could easily rebrand it as their R-rated studio.

Quick Hits – Swamp Thing has added Brian Tyler, composer of Age of Ultron.  Despite leaving the main series, THR hints that a Lauren Cohan lead Walking Dead spinoff is possible.  Despite not actively shopping the idea around, ABC is apparently open to a Lost reboot of sorts.
