Walking Dead Star Glad to be Gone, J.K. Simmons Reprising DCEU Role? and More!

The Walking Dead killed off a major character last night in Tom Payne’s Paul “Jesus” Rovia.  Rumors leaked earlier in the day revealing the characters unexpected demise in the season nine mid-season finale.  Apparently Payne had wanted the show to kill off the character as he was disappointed with playing him.  He told The Hollywood Reporter exactly why, saying;

There was just lots of unrealized potential.  That was very frustrating for me. When we finally showed off this year what he was able to do, that was great. I have no wish to go back to being frustrated by a character. It’s really just part of being on an ongoing series. You’re constantly hoping the next episode you get, something will happen for you. You’re on the edge of your seat all the time, pressing your hands together and hoping that something cool will turn up. You can only do that for so long. I’m looking forward to doing something now that has a beginning, middle and end, so I can see the character in front of me. I spent a long time hoping my character was going to have more to do. I was happy to have a great beginning, a great bit [in the middle] with Lennie, and then a really great ending. That’s enough for me.

Jesus makes the third major character removed from the roster this year, following Rick Grimes and Maggie Greene.

J.K. Simmons is hopeful he’ll get to play Jim (G.Y.M.) Gordon in another DCEU film.  Talking to Collider he revealed there are talks to reprise the character, saying;

There are conversations going on, that I’m not going to make public…As far as I know, there’s no opportunity, in the immediate future, for me to do more Commissioner Gordon, but I continue to be optimistic that it will happen again.

In gaming news, Red Dead Redemption‘s 2 online beta is set to go online this week on November 27th.   This pairs nicely with the news that Hitman 2 is now 50% off for cyber Monday via GameStop.
