Darth Maul News, Star Done With Franchise and More! – ComicCorp News

Darth Maul News – After the news that the Darth Maul cameo in Solo was released online this week by Disney, I didn’t think we’d get so much news pertaining to the former Sith Lord.  Apparently Maul’s voice actor is none other than Starkiller of the Star Wars: Forced Unleashed franchise.  When he was given the opportunity to debut for a live action role, something that has evaded him, he was surprised.  Talking to ComicBook.com, he shared that feeling, saying;

Shock and disbelief.  I have had fans come up to me over the years and they say things like, ‘Hey, do you think Maul will ever be in a movie and you’ll voice him?’ I would just say, ‘That’s adorable. That’s so sweet. No, of course not. That’s never going to happen, but so cute that you think that that would ever happen.’ Or they’d say things like, ‘Do you think they’ll ever make The Clone Wars again?’ I’d be like, ‘Shh, you’re okay. Go to sleep.’ I would have this slightly, I hate to say it but, condescending thought of, ‘I know how the business works, and the fans don’t, but they have enthusiasm. It’s wonderful that they have this enthusiasm.’

While Witwer did the voice, Rey Park returned as the physical form of Maul, the same role he played in 1999 when the character debuted.  Apparently Park recanted how the screening went, sitting next to former Phantom Menace co-star Ewan McGregor; who became so excited he shook Park to the point of missing his turn on the big screen.  That’s actually really cool to hear.

Kate Beckinsale – Despite making her name in science fiction and fantasy films, Kate Beckinsale has doubled down on her future in the industry; she’s done – with THOSE films.  The Underworld films were never as good or bad as fans want to claim, but it’s not that surprising that Beckinsale doesn’t want to do anymore, as she’s been apart of a lot of them.  When asked by Variety about it, she was very blunt saying;

I wouldn’t return. I’ve done plenty of those.

But it wasn’t so much the content, but the large production that she seemingly wasn’t a fan of, continuing;

I’ve done indie movies where I’m sitting on a piece of folded carpet and it was wonderful. I’ve done great big movies that were the worst misery of my life. It all depends.  At university, I studied Russian and French. I never studied drama, so I always felt like from the beginning of my career that it was an apprenticeship. That freed me up to try a lot of things. It gave me a lot of latitude. I started out in the indie space. I never anticipated doing one of those heavy-weight, very physical franchise things. It was scary to see myself on movie posters on the side of every single bus.

Westworld Just Got Cool….BITCH! – Westworld, which I’ll get to eventually, has added the Bitch-Master himself, Aaron Paul.  The charismatic star rose to fame during his run on Breaking Bad, especially his excessive use of the phrase “…yeah, bitch!”.  He’s got a few projects coming up, including a co-staring role in the anthology series Lizzy Caplan called Are You Sleeping.  So it looks like Paul is about to have a major year.

Quick Hits – Warner Bros. are reshuffling DC Entertainment into a new division referred to as Warner Bros. Global Brands and Experiences.  Supernatural and Hot Topic have launched a new 13th anniversary clothing line.  Henry Cavill replied to the rumors of his departure as Superman by wearing a Krypton shirt and posting a nondescript video to Instagram.
