One More Match for Undertaker? Big IMPACT Wrestling News and More! – WrestleCorp News

Undertaker vs. John Cena? – Say what you will about Dave Meltzer, but he’s rarely wrong. We know Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns is a lock for WrestleMania 34 but now there is word as well from the Observer himself, that pits The Undertaker against John Cena. That’s right, the two men who should be putting over new talent at the event are going to finally face off (at WrestleMania). I’m perplexed, because it’s generally accepted among the medical community, that someone with a joint replacement like ‘Taker has, is automatically disqualified from being medically cleared for any and all contact ‘sports’. I say ‘sports’ because this isn’t. However, it would apply in that regard. I do think there should be an investigation into this matter, as I highly doubt a doctor that isn’t under the WWE umbrella is signing off on this.

That being said, Undertaker hasn’t had a truly good match in years; and needs to retire. Plus it makes all of last years match seem….stupid.

IMPACT Wrestling News – As seen on Twitter last night, IMPACT has brought back Austin Aries and thrust him into a feud with Eli Drake. Also, there was a backstage meeting at IMPACT that was described as “very positive”. Austin Aries has publicly said that the atmosphere was different, and he had a great time being back. I’ve been told by one long time, and one not so long time employee that they don’t remember the buzz backstage being so upbeat. There’s a genuine sense that Scott D’Amore and Don Callis know what they’re doing, and that Ed Nordholm is all in with these two.

It should also be noted that while Sonjay Dutt is out, House of Hardcore owner and former IMPACT Wrestling talent, Tommy Dreamer is helping out.

Rey Mysterio Update – Rey Mysterio is expected to join IMPACT, I’m told but just not at the moment. Apparently some last minute snags in a deal kept Rey from agreeing for this week. Part of the issue I’m told was when they wanted Rey in for, but Rey already had dates on the book for later in the week. I’m told that the deal is on the table, and it’s a matter of when – not if – he signs.

Big NWA News – The NWA is continuing to grow its brand, and with Nick Aldis (Magnus) with the title, Tim Storm strongly entrenched in the company and former Resistance Pro Wrestler Jocephus now a part of the group, it seems pretty obvious that they’re slowly building a whole roster. Right now the idea is to have Jocephus and Tim Storm in an empty arena match.

Here’s where it gets nutty, the match will happen at the IMPACT Zone in Orlando Florida. YUP, that IMPACT Zone. It’ll be taped prior to the days taping. Apparently D’Amore and Callis are following up on Billy Corgan’s desire to still work with IMPACT Wrestling and other promotions. There is no word on anyone else being involved in IMPACT tapings. The match will be for a title shot against Aldis. Storm currently holds the rights to it, as it’s his remtach clause.

Quick Hits – The slow burning feud between Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega may either happen at ROH’s Supercard of Honor XII on April 7th, or the September 1st event, All In. Moose was injured at last night’s tapings. There isn’t a belief he tore anything, but that might change with the MRI. Michelle McCool and Molly Holly were contacted for the Women’s Royal Rumble match. ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund will be at RAW 25.
