Disney/Fox Deal Almost Done? “Shazam!” Casting Update – ComicCorp News

Disney About to Acquire Fox – Disney is on the verge of acquiring Fox CNBC is reporting. The report states that we should know the final details come Thursday, when the deal is announced. Fox is only selling the television and flim studios, which means all the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties would be acquired by Disney, reunifying the universes in the MCU.

James Mangold who directed “Logan”, commented on the deal, saying;

If they’re actually changing their mandate, if what they’re supposed to do alters, that would be sad to me because it just means less movies. I just hope what we end up with is going to be a positive in terms of movies. The real thing that happens when you make a movie rated R, behind the scenes, is that the studio has to adjust to the reality that there will be no Happy Meals. There will be no action figures. The entire merchandising, cross-pollinating side of selling the movie to children is dead before you even start. And when that’s dead, it means you’re making a grown-up movie.

‘Shazam!’ Casting News – We have two more names joining the cast of “Shazam!”, and they are Ian Chen and Jovan Armand. They’ll play Eugene Choi and Pedro Pena respectively. The cast is coming together, and if I’m being honest, I might be more excited for this movie than anything in the pipeline at the moment.

Quick Hits – A Boba Fett film is apparently back in the works. Nothing screams cool than over saturation, right? “Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse” won’t be part of the MCU, as we reported a while back. Warner Bros. has opted recast Kiersey Clemons for the upcoming “Flashpoint Film”.
