Major Actress Joins ‘Gambit’ Film, Writer Rips Marvel and More! – ComicCorp News

Gambit Adds Major Actress – Variety is reporting that Emmy-nominee Lizzy Caplan has joined Channing Tatum in the “Gambit” spin-off film. The rumors for her role seem to indicate she’ll be a major player and some are thinking Rogue. The film has been rumored to be about the Thieves Guild, which we’ve seen before on the “X-Men: Animated Series”. Lea Seydoux was originally cast for the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux, but she’s apparently now out of the film, so perhaps Caplan will play Boudreaux.

Jeff Lemire Rips Time with Marvel – Jeff Lemire has done some amazing work on books like “Green Arrow” and “Moon Knight” but after leaving DC for Marvel, Lemire was given some X-Men stuff to work on, and he was not a fan of it. Freelancing with Image and Dark Horse comics now, Lemire spoke about his time in Marvel, saying;

Certain books like Moon Knight total freedom, they never gave me any notes and you can kinda see it in the work, it’s the best thing I did.

…The X-Men stuff was… Kind of a nightmare, to the honest. Really difficult. I came into [it] and they already had storylines in place I had to use that I probably wouldn’t come up with myself, and I felt editorial was very restricting in what they wanted. And too many notes. And then you start second-guessing yourself. It’s just not a good situation. That wasn’t a great experience, but on the flip side, doing Moon Knight was really fun.

Christopher Eccleston Rips Marvel for Lying – Christopher Eccleston has had a good career in acting. The former “Doctor Who” actor spoke about his panned performance in “Thor: The Dark World”, and was very candid saying that it wasn’t his greatest moment. He also went to say Marvel lied;

The first couple of days it was about seven hours, eight hours [in make-up],” he continued. “I think we got it down to six and a half. It’s a day’s work before [anything]. Marvel were dishonest to me because they never, ever let me know that there’d be that amount of make-up.

Why did he do it? He did it….for The Rock. Sorry, bad joke, no he did it for the money.

Quick Hits – Ben Affleck was billed for taking a batarang from set, due to the price of the prop. X-Men’s “Gambit” spinoff has a new working title, “Forevermore”; originally named “Chess”.
