DC Pushing ‘Shazam’ to the Forefront? CM Punk Returns to Work and More! – ComicCorp News

Sorry for the lateness.

Shazam Next Up? – Apparently “Shazam” has been bumped up the shooting schedule to be the next film to shoot for DC Comics and Warner Bros. Director David F. Sandberg spoke to FilmRiot and revealed the news, saying;

There’s a script. It’s the next DC movie to shoot.

He continues on, saying;

I’m taking it all in. Some of those really old ones are quite fun, when he’s, like, fighting Hitler. Stuff like that. No, cause he’s been around since the 40s for, like, as long as Superman. So there’s a lot to read and that’s also interesting because he sort of has a couple of different origin stories or a couple of different takes on it. You know, you have the most recent sort of Geoff Johns version and then you have Ordwell [sic] version and then you have those really old versions. It’s going to be really interesting just because of how hardcore the fans are.

CM Punk Returns to Marvel – While CM Punk remains away from pro wrestling and it’s been over a year since his first UFC fight was announced, with no follow up on the horizon, yet Punk is returning to work but this time with Marvel Comics. CM Punk wrote the most recent Drax stand alone series for the comic company but that’s not the case this time. It’s been announced that Punk is being assigned writing duty for “Master of Kung Fu”, featuring Shang-Chi. Dalibor Talajic will illustrate it. Talajic is quoted as saying;

I grew up on Shang Chi. I am a huge fan of Bruce Lee, so naturally I adore Shang Chi as well. I love both [Paul] Gulacy and [Mike] Zeck stuff. Gulacy treated Shang Cji like a noir book, while Zeck made it very impressive in fight scenes. I had my dream come true some two years ago when I did the Master of Kung Fu mini with Haden Blackman. The editor on this project, Kathleen Wisnecky, knows me from that time, so I hope she was pleased with what we did back then and she called me back.
