Top IMPACT Star Returning to WWE?, New WWE Titles Coming to TV and More! – WrestleCorp News

Top IMPACT Star Going Back to WWE? – The Yo-Yo nature of Alberto El Patron is just as relevant as ever. The man who left the WWE, only to return to the WWE, only to leave again may in fact be returning to the WWE. El Patron was in Stamford, CT last week recording something for a Rey Mysterio feature that the WWE is putting together, and apparently the conversation of a return was being discussed. PWInsider is reporting that Vince McMahon is very high on the Pride of Mexico and his contract with IMPACT expires in April after their Redemption pay per view. Vince wants to bring him back, because it’s Vince and of course he does. IMPACT is trying to re-sign him, for whatever reason they have, but as of right now his future is up in the air. If I was running IMPACT, I’d let him go. Never saw the value in him.

All that being said though, it looks like Alberto wouldn’t return until sometime after SummerSlam, as he’s currently booked for TripleMania, AAA’s biggest event of the year, which is set for August 25th.

Lucha Underground News – Just like last time, spoilers folks. We’re finding out that Rich Swann was backstage this past weekend, possibly to start filming for his debut. It should be noted that Candice Michelle was backstage as well, but it was more to visit friends. IMPACT Wrestler Dezmond Xavier worked some more matches with the company, having debuted last week.

The company, as usual, is filming things out of order to keep fans guessing as to what will appear on each given episode. The former Joye Mercury, taking the name Joey Wrestling is with the promotion now too. Apparently Mariposa may be losing the mask as Cheerleader Melissa was in her more well known indy persona in some segments. With that change, the recently debuted Jack Hager (Swagger) has a new name as well, being called Jack Strong.

Indy talent Eli Everfly also debuted, and wowed fans.

In some final bits, it’s being said that the IMPACT/Lucha Underground duel show will be ‘non-cannon’ for the folks at Lucha Underground. L-U ref Rick Knox broke his clavicle but was back working this weeks set of tapings.

New WWE Titles Coming? – While the WWE continues to diversify their wrestling portfolio, they’re adding more to their titular line up around WrestleMania with the new Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships. This isn’t too surprising, as it’s been an often pitched idea around the internet. With the likes of Johnny Gargano, Roderick Strong and others set to join 205Live eventually, it makes sense to add more titles to the lineup. Most of the talent on this roster will never headline or be a top guy within the WWE, so it’s not like the company is holding the talent back. I mean, Tony Neese, am I right?

‘All In’ Event News Revealed – During the Being the Elite’s most recent YouTube video, ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell revealed that Chicago would host their inaugural All In event. The event features Cody Rhodes, Hangman Page, The Young Bucks, Mart Scurll and Stephen Amell (among others yet announced) trying to pack 10,000 wrestling fans into an arena for an indy show. The venue they picked will be the The Sears Centre Arena, which holds about 11,000 fans. The card and roster should start coming together now that the date, city and venue have been picked.

WrestleMania Match Revealed? – The RAW Tag Team Champions, The Bar, have issued an open challenge for any team to face them at WrestleMania 34. The rumor was that it’d be The Hardy’s but with the Bray Wyatt/Matt Hardy feud far from done apparently, it seems as though Jeff’s return is still some time off. The current rumor thanks to PWInsider has the team that will challenge The Bar before two men who haven’t tagged before. So, this sounds like a good column for the weekend; What Two Stars Should Team Up At WrestleMania? Oh, it’ll be worth it. I think. The column, not the match.

Coachman Under Fire – Jonathan Coachman is under fire after former ESPN employee Adrienne Lawrence filed a lawsuit against the company citing sexual harassment and racial discrimination as the reasoning why she was let go. Coachman was named as one of the men who allegedly sexually harassed her. An expert from the lawsuit claims that Coachman had a reputation of harassing women to the point she was specifically warned about him, due to prior instances he had with other women. She cites Cary Chow as someone who warned her and even gave her a ‘list’ of men to avoid.

ESPN has stated that they will defend themselves from these accusations, and that an investigation was already underway.

Coachman replied as well on Twitter today, saying;

I will address this only once because I am seething today. In 21 years of being a PROFESSIONAL I have never been more offended in my life. I my 9 years I can count on one hand the amount of times I interacted with anyone other than a co-anchor. To allow someone to spread vicious Lies and flat out fabrications is not ok and it’s time someone stood up for themselves. @jemelehill addressed her lie last night. I am not a part of this lawsuit because I have never done anything wrong. My reputation speaks for itself and anyone that has ever worked with me Will back that up. I am also offended that someone can dangerously throw peoples names into something for the clear attempt at getting headlines. This the only time I will address this because I am not a part of this lawsuit. My heart goes out to anyone falsely accused of Anything. Trust me it doesn’t feel good. But most of you have been incredible and supportive. Onward and upward.

I have heard and spoken to people within the WWE about the serious and at times disgusting way the company has handled issues in the past. Coachman defends the company at every turn. To think that he’s capable of lying and doing things like this aren’t a stretch for me. I think anyone who supports Vince McMahon is capable of being a shit-lord. However, he’s not named in the lawsuit himself. ESPN is. And that takes us to the one piece of saving grace for Coach, Jemele Hill.

Hill was named in the lawsuit as someone who had an alleged racist encounter with ESPN anchor-legend Chris Berman. Hill though, as seen below, has denied the encounter was ever racist, and that it was simply them not getting along. She then goes out of her way to slam Lawerence’s claims and bury the accusations against Berman.

I still think Coach is a piece of crap, but it seems likely he wasn’t the monster Lawrence tried to paint him into being. As of now the WWE hasn’t suspended Coach, and that’s not surprising (he’s a Vince-Guy). It looks like he won’t be taken off t.v. but this isn’t great optics. The WWE is running a Women’s Month celebration on their television shows, anchored by a man accused of sexual harassment.

Quick Hits – Over the weekend, Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated Johnny Impact for the AAA Mega Championship at the Rey de Reyes event. The event is getting mixed reviews by those who watched it. Katsuyori Shibata and Scorpio Sky have been brought in by New Japan Pro Wrestling to lead their California Dojo which is reopening for the first time in over a decade. The previous once featured the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and Rocky Romero.
