“Shazam!” Director Fired? Iris West Recasting? and More! – ComicCorp News

Shazam Director Refutes Being Fired – Don’t believe Reddit. It’s just full of bullshit. One of these posters flat out claimed that David F. Sandberg had been fired for having an oversexualized hard-R film in mind for “Shazam!”. David F. Sandberg took to Twitter to mock this accusation with the following tweet.

Will Iris West Be Recast? – Apparently when Rick Famuyiwa was brought in to direct “The Flash”, he made sure Kiersey Clemons was cast as Iris West. When he left though, the folks at Warner Bros. decided they wanted to recast her, as she was specifically brought for Famuyiwa. At least according to an anonymous VFX artist who worked on “Justice League”. He claims the plan was to digitally remove and replace Clemons in a scene that involved Barry Allen saving her. That scene has since been leaked online. The anonymous VFX artist is being quoted as saying;

I’ve said before, we were replacing Clemons with a digital woman in the shot – Clemons was brought on because of Famuyiwa, when he bailed, it meant WB could recast her. That’s around the time the shot was cut. Now it’s been leaked online with her in it, they’ll probably stop all the work being done on it to replace her to stop fan backlash.

Opinion: If the next director for “The Flash” wants a different Iris West, he’s more than welcomed to recast her. Personally, I don’t care either way, I just want good movies and if a director feels we’re more likely to get a better performance from someone else, go for it. Otherwise keep her and just move forward with “Flashpoint”.

James Granco on X-Men Film Role – James Franco was rumored to be Multiple Man (Jamie Madrox), but in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Franco outright confirms these rumors, saying;

I don’t know how much I can say. But I will say I am producing and performing in it. It’s early stages. I think probably what I can say is, like anything, there’s a need to develop more.

Our bottom line MO is, how can we push this into new ground? A little bit, but still make it entertaining? [But] what I love about what Simon Kinberg and Fox and the X-Men people have done with Deadpool and Logan — it took a while to get there, maybe 10 years — but they are going to go hard R. And we’re going to take this superhero thing and really just push it into a new genre. So we’re working with Simon Kinberg on an X-Men property.

Quick Hits – Tom Holland seems to hint involvement in “Uncharted” film. Wilson Bethel joins the third season of “Daredevil”, and is rumored to play a major villain. Desaad, as a Grim-Reaper looking version, was supposed to be in “Justice League” but didn’t make the cut when it began filming. The Green Lantern seen in “Justice League” was actually Yalan Gur, according to some internet sleuths.
