Lucha Underground Update, Owens/Zayn Facing Discipline? and More! – WrestleCorp News

Lucha Underground Update – Lucha Underground has officially been renewed for a fourth season. The promotion hasn’t had any shows since 2016 but aired throughout the fall in 2017. Johnny IMPACT will apparently be pulling double duty going forward, as he’ll compete in both IMPACT Wrestling and Lucha Underground.

I heard that the company will have some trepidation about booking some talent, now that IMPACT Wrestling is partnering with AAA. King Cuerno, Sami Callihan, Texano, Johnny Mundo, Taya Valkyrie, and Drago have all appeared and will continue to appear in IMPACT. The other major star, Sexy Star, has been black balled by many promotions for going rogue on Rosemary at TripleMania. Many of those names are tops tars in Lucha Underground. There is some talk about bringing in other Lucha stars from CRASH and CMLL if possible but that could hurt their ability to still use some talent from AAA, like Mil Muertes and Angelico. Either way, the fourth season will be something to keep an eye on going forward.

Owen/Zayn Update – The WWE won’t be pushing too hard on the Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens situation. The duo went off script and awkwardly cut a segment short in the UK on Tuesday for SmackDown. The duo are back on the road for SmackDown’s go home show for Survivor Series. There were talks of a fine rendered against both; but that can’t be confirmed.

Backstage News on AJ Styles Winning Title – Despite the obvious reason whys they did the change, Dave Meltzer is claiming Vince McMahon didn’t settle on the change until Saturday prior, despite the match being booked days in advanced. There’s much speculation as to why Jinder Mahal lost the title to Styles, but none of it is confirmed. I’m told that Mahal as Champion was not moving tickets at all, and that there’s no need to put the belt back on him. So we’ll have to see what happens.

Quick Hits – WWE wrestler Wolfgang has suffered an injury at the November 3rd house show in Aberdeen, Scotland. Paige and Alberto El Patron are apparently no longer dating, according to Paige. IMPACT Wrestling dropped 25,000 viewers from last week’s 275,000. Simon Gotch, now known as Simon Grimm will be doing an MMA gimmick in ROH.
