‘Joker’ Movie in the Work? ‘Doctor Who’ Companion and More! – ComicCorp News

Joker Movie in the Work? – Now this one is baffling. Apparently Warner Bros. and D.C. Comics are working on a origin story of sorts for the DCEU “Batman” character, The Joker that will be co-written by Todd Phillips and Scott Silver. Silver will also direct, with Martin Scorsese set to be a producer. The idea is to make The Joker feel organic and ingrained inn the Gotham underbelly.

Opinion: Nope.

‘Han Solo’ Film to Cut Major Character – The Star Wars anthology film for ‘Han Solo’ will apparently feature a major cut, involving Michael K. Williams. Apparently his entire character has been cut due to Ron Howard needing to splice footage shot by the two previous directors and himself into one coherent film. Williams character was too stark of a contrast and was unable to be woven into the new footage without it looking bad. The issue wasn’t the character though, but the fact that Williams wasn’t available for re-shoots due to him being booked through November. Williams was quoted as saying;

I felt great about what I created with the directors that I worked with,” Williams said. “It is what it is…When Ron Howard got hired to finish out the film, there were some reshoot issues that needed to be done in regards to my character, in order for it to match the new direction which the producers wanted Ron to carry the film in, and that would have required me on a plane a month ago to London, to Pinewood, to do reshoots.

But I’m here, on location in Africa. It’s scheduling. I’m not going to be back on the market until the end of November after [his Sundance television series] Hap and Leonard, and for them to wait that long for me, that would have pushed back the release date, which I believe is in May 2018. They wanted me now; I couldn’t go. So they had to clip-clip-clip.

Opinion: Williams is a great actor, so to see him get cut due to scheduling is disappointing but understandable.

Hellboy News – “Hellboy” has signed Ed Skrein to play Benjamin Daimio in the upcoming “Hellboy” remake. The actor is most notable for playing Francis Freeman in the first “Deadpool” film. David Harbour claims that the film isn’t so much an origin story, saying;

There is something of [his origin], but it’s not really an origin story movie. We kind of pick up the movie like we’re running and gunning. We do have a little bit of stuff where we show stuff, but it really is a story and you just drop in with this guy. In a way, I feel like that’s kind of what Indiana Jones was. You start with him stealing the idol, but also you do go back to the university and you understand he’s an archeologist, but this is just a guy who goes and steals idols and fights Nazis and wants to steal the Arc of the Covenant. But you never go back when he’s a kid and you’re like, ‘How did he become Indiana Jones?’ It’s like no, we accept that this is Indiana Jones and I think that’s what our story does too. You accept that there’s this half-demon guy running around the world and being a paranormal investigator and solving crimes and also dealing with his own issues at the same time.

Doctor Who Companion Rumored – “Doctor Who” cast their first woman as the Doctor in the upcoming new season of the show. Today we got word that they’ll be adding their first solo male companion. All but one time since the reboot, the companion for the doctor has always been a woman, save for the one year it was a duo. This time however, Bradley Walsh will be the lone companion.

Quick Hits: Cisco and Gypsy’s relationship will be tested in the upcoming fourth season of “The Flash”. Rumor has it that Richard Rider/Nova will appear in the MCU eventually, most notably with “Guardians”. “Death Note” director thinking about sequel, ahead of it’s North American release.
