NJPW News, KnockOut Gone and More ! – WrestleCorp’s Weekend Recap

I decided to update you on the weekend events. There wasn’t much but here’s what you need to know.

NJPW News – After winning Block B on Saturday, Kenny Omega lost to Block A winner, Tetsuya Naito. Earlier in the night Katsuyori Shibata returned to a NJPW ring and announced he announced that he’s alive. Though many speculate he’s returning to the ring, it seems more likely that he’s just returning to the company. Another injured wrestler returned as well, with Lance Archer coming back to NJPW and reteaming with Davey Boy Smith Jr to take out Guerillas of Destiny and War Machine. In the final bits of NJPW news, Rysuke Taguchi and Ricochet won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles from the Young Bucks.

GFW Releases Knockout – Angelina Love apparently requested her release from the company this past weekend which took many aback, because we all thought she was already gone. Love, who’s husband Davey Richards retired from the company earlier in the summer, and it appears Love wants to go home with him and not worry about being at television.

Opinion: Love is an icon in GFW history and will be in the HOF one day, but she’s nowhere near the worker she used to be and she was only brought in to further the Richards/Eddie Edwards feud, so her departure isn’t a big deal.

Quick Hits – Ric Flair was hospitalized over the weekend for routine monitoring. Eli Drake never uses the scripts given to him. SummerSlam returns to Brooklyn for the fourth straight year in 2018.
