More Terminator Films Coming, ‘John Wick’ Spinoffs Coming? And More! – ComicCorp News

It’s late, but oh well. Here it is.

James Cameron Wants to Reboot Terminator With New Trilogy – James Cameron is expected to get the rights to the Terminator Franchise returned to him in the near future and apparently he has a desire to retool the franchise with a three film arc. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be back to some degree but the idea is to ‘pass the baton’ to new characters. Cameron is quoted as saying;

The question is — has the franchise run its course or can it be freshened up? Can it still have relevance now where so much of our world is catching up to what was science fiction in the first two films. We live in a world of predator drones and surveillance and big data and emergent AI (artificial intelligence).

So I am in discussions with David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half so he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it.

We’ll put more meat on the bones if we get past the next couple of hurdles as and when we announce that.

John Wick Expanding Its Universe – Shay Hatten is writing a screenplay that would feature the expansion of the “John Wick” universe, called “Ballerina”. The Hollywood Reporter is saying it’d be closer to “La Femmee Nikita” but with a ‘more puply, hyper-stylized bent’. The movie sounds interesting but lets see how it’s integrated first.

Quick Hits – Keith David to join “New Warriors”. Warwick Davis joins Han Solo spin-off. Characters Bobby Singer and Missouri Moseley will be featured in the upcoming season of “Supernatural”.
