NXT Losing Money? Lucha Underground Season 4 Taping News, and More! – WrestleCorp News

NXT Losing Money – Leave it to Jim Cornette to tell it like it is. Cornette on his podcast revealed that NXT is losing money hand over fist, something I’ve reported on in the past. He reveals that he got this information thanks to WWE being a publicly traded company and the information being readily available to anyone. Cornette reveals that NXT lost $13 million in 2016, and $19 million last year. Here’s what’s quoted that he said;

NXT in 2016 sold $7 million in tickets and had $20 million in expenses. In 2017, NXT had let’s say $6 million in ticket sales and $25 million in expenses… In all honesty, 2016 they lost $13 million, 2017 they lost $19 million and that’s not a ton of money for that whole company and organization up there. But can you imagine what me and Danny Davis could’ve done with Ohio Valley Wrestling if they said, ‘OK guys, you can bring in anybody that you want that’s not on the main roster or signed to New Japan and you can lose $32 million over the next two years.’ Holy f**k!

We already had the highest rated show on the station’s Saturday schedule we were on… We had numerous events that drew large houses at the Gardens and we drew at Six Flags and we produced a ton of talent. I don’t know what the percentages would be but I guarantee we didn’t lose $32 million. That’s the thing, Ohio Valley Wrestling never lost money since it’s been in operation. There have been a few years it may not have made much, but at that point in time it was the only full-time company with television running regular events in the United States besides the WWE that was profitable.

I understand they’re making the investment in training the future superstars and they have to, they’ve figured out that they have to because they’re not getting them from anywhere else. So they have to train their own, but my God!

Lucha Underground Season 4 Update – Season four begins filming at the new Temple at the Union Central Cold Storage building on Industrial Street in downtown L.A. in California. Tapings are scheduled to last for five weeks and El Rey wants to keep talent in the area for all five weeks. They’re expecting to run shows Friday’s and Saturday’s, while filming vignettes midweek. Some talent have not been brought back for season four due to budget cuts, but no word yet on who was left off the invite sheet.

Luke Gallows Doesn’t Have The Buck’s Best Interest in Mind – Luke Gallows, Doc Gallows, DOC, Festus, it doesn’t matter what you call him. What matters is his views, cus they’re trash. Despite earning a huge cut of all their merchandise, being at the top of cards all around the world, making great money (more than they’d make in the WWE), while working less days, and performing on the most anticipated cards of the wrestling calendar, Luke Gallows believes that the Young Bucks should sign with the WWE. Why? For the money? For the chance at amazing matches? To be able to headline? No…because WWE is “big”. Gallows may be making more money in the WWE than in NJPW, but he and his partner are afterthoughts. Far from the big time draws they could of been elsewhere. But hey, that’s the WWE brainwashing in effect.

Quick Hits – ROH Wrestling has announced that Dalton Castle will defend his ROH World Championship against former champion Jay Lethal at the 16th Anniversary Show on March 9th in Las Vegas. RAW saw a 3.282 million for this weeks episode, up from last week’s 3.105. Triple H pushed for Jeff Jarrett’s induction according to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. Paul Heyman is currently rumored to be the man to induct Goldberg into the Hall of Fame.
