It’s official, Arrow is coming to an end. The show announced their ending after season 8, which will premiere in the fall. The show will only air for ten more episodes before calling it quits; giving credence the fan-theory that Oliver Queen exchanged his life with The Monitor during the Elseworld’s crossover event.
In a lengthy livestream on Facebook, series star Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) revealed that it was his desire to leave the show that caused the show’s cancellation. He explains that after the end of season six, he went to Greg Berlanti and told him he wanted to leave the series, and to start thinking of an end date. They agreed on the limited run 8th season, allowing Amell to depart the role.
Amell cited his desire to not see Arrow “overstay” it’s welcome, and to end in a manner that “packs a punch”, and not “limp” to a finale. Amell though revealed he spoke with showrunner Beth Schwartz and series creator Marc Guggenheim just this past Friday about how to handle his exit and what was best for the show. If you read his exact quote, it heavily implies that this was not the plan prior to the meeting and that a full 8th season was expected.
Considering the fact this was just five days before the formal announcement, by all intents and purposes, this was a blindside to CW and the staff and crew of Arrow. It seems as though season eight was supposed to be a full season, with Amell attached. You can read the entire post here.

The Suicide Squad sequel is going to have an interesting new look, as it was reported last week that Will Smith was not returning to play Deadshot. James Gunn has joined up with the sequel and DC Universe set of films and is already eyeing Smith’s replacement. That man happens to be none other than Idris Elba. While many thought he’d be in the running for the role of John Stewart, it appears as though DC has bigger plans for Deadshot. Now this is just a rumor so far, from The Hollywood Reporter, but there appears to be some sort of interest from both parties, otherwise it wouldn’t be a rumor. The only two characters expected back are Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller, with both Margot Robbie and Viola Davis reprising their roles.
