There’s no sugarcoating this show; it sucked. It sucked so hard. Three matches? Two of which were just awful to watch. Now, rewrites apparently happened. That didn’t help the quality of the show, nor did having untalented assclowns like Delirious writing the show. He’s awful, and no one in power seems to care.
If that wasnt’ bad enough, we had three debuts, and they were all underwhelming to some degree. The least egregious was AZM, now known as Mr. Elogence. A fine segment and fine debut, but with the expectations on the night, severely underwhelming. Then, if that wasn’t bad enough, the other two debuts were Elayna Black/Cora Jade and Daria Rae/Sonya Deville. Two women known for their lack of in-ring skill and vacuums of charisma.
The Knockouts division is already bad; these two just make the TNA television product so much worse. This show didn’t need to be bad. The nearly 40 minutes of AMC promos didn’t help things, and at least twice, if not three times, AMC ran back-to-back ad breaks. I’m sure not intentionally, but still. Maybe this was on TNA’s end, maybe not. I’m not sure.
But if we’re re-booking this show, we’re going to assume that we put someone in the proper places who knows what they’re doing. What we’re not going to do is pretend that we have talent for the show that we don’t have. If they weren’t at the event last night, we’re not using them.
Also, we also have carte blanche to not sign talent, so no Sonya Deville or Cora Jade.
TNA on AMC Debut Episode
Backstage Segment: AJ Styles (in the back) announces TNA’s debut on AMC
Match: The Hardys vs. the Great Hands
- Keep it to eight minutes, have Jason Hotch look like a million bucks. Hotch is probably your best in-ring worker at this point and should be positioned as such.
Winners: Hardys
Backstage Segment: The Righteous promo
- You cut right to the back, the Righteous are there, putting themselves over and further hyping up their love of the Hardys. Yet they’re concerned the Hardys are losing their way. The Righteous want to free the Hardys of their restrictions, guide them back to their path, and save them from themselves. They’re not gods, just men. Aging men. The Rigtheous then reveal BDE, bloodied and beaten up. They talk about how guys like him, Leon Slater, and other “Hardy Stans” have made the Hardys feel invincible. And that invincibility has limited the Hardys. At Genesis, the Righteous want the Hardys to be unbound and truly human, as humans are the most dangerous animal. Then and only then will the Righteous know that the Hardys are truly ‘back’.
In Ring Segment: Xia Brookside and Léi Yǐng Lee come out for a quick promo and then commentary duty. Brookside mentions an open contract for Genesis against her tag partner, citing Dani Luna’s inability to make the event.
Match: The Elegance Brand (w/ Ash, The Personal Concierge, and a mystery man) vs. The IInspiration
- The IInspiration suck as wrestlers. Have them cut a quick promo talking about how much better they are than the Elegance Brand, to the point that they’d quit if they lost in under two minutes. The match should go no more than 90 seconds, with the mystery man (AZM) costing The IInspiration their win. The heels would then reveal him as Mr. Elegance as they run up the ramp away from Xia and Lei, who try to make the save. Only for the lights to go out and ZARIA to take out Lei, and claiming the open-challenge for Genesis.
Winners: and new TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions, the Elegance Brand
In Ring Segment: AJ Styles, Mike Santana, and Frankie Kazaria
- Styles comes out to hype up the main event, only for Frankie Kazarian to enter and talk down to the Phenominal One. The two look like they’re about to come to blows when Mike Santana comes out of nowhere and chases off Kazarian (If we can get Kaz laying out Styles, then we do that). Styles then puts over Santana as the ace of TNA.
This would be the first hour. Start of hour two
Backstage Segment: Dixie Carter and AJ Styles share a moment, with Dixie putting over Mike Santana as the man she’s pulling for tonight.
Eric Young, Mustafa Ali, Special Agent 0, and Tasha Steelz vs. JDC, Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, and Alisa Edwards
- Elijah would get an intro and a quick promo before joining commentary. It’d be a pretty standard match, but as Ali is about to cheat to beat JDC, Elijah smashes his guitar over Ali, and JDC gets the rollup for the win. Post-match, Eddie and JDC give each other a final salute before JDC’s match with his friend.
Winners: The System
Backstage Segment: Santino Marrella with Moose and Cedric Alexander.
- Santino, as DOA, brings Moose and Cedric together to explain that their X-Division title match is off at Genesis. Joe Hendry is announced as the third man for their match. Santino also announces that at the event, the winner will get a title shot, but their title shot will correspond with whoever gets pinned. Pinning Hendry will get you a world title shot, Alexander the X-Division, and Moose the tag team title. It’s a fun concept that will also ensure that should Hendry have to win, he isn’t involved in the world title scene.
Match: TNA International Championship JDC vs. Stacks (c) – NO DQ
- Before cameras can cut away, Stacks jumps Santino and pulls him to the ring, and the show goes to commercial. When we come back, the System makes the save with JDC doing the most to Stacks. Santino then books a title match, right now, with JDC and Stacks. No DQ. The System runs a train on Stacks before JDC beats him soundly in under two minutes. JDC and Edwards will now face off for the International Championship at Genesis.
Winner: and new TNA International Champion JDC
Backstage Segment: Nic and Ryan Nemeth (backstage)
- Nic Nemeth, with Ryan Nemeth, makes it clear that he’s not cashing in his Call Your Shot title match tonight. Says he’s got bigger plans in mind. Ryan Nemeth then sees Mara Sade and the AMC crew. Ryan tries to catch Mara’s attention by talking about the actors from AMC, showing his ‘robust film knowledge,’ but is rebuffed by Mara. AJ Francis pops up and comes by to help put over Ryan to Mara, but the AMC crew blocks his path, leading to Francis backing away and the faces walking off. Ryan then puts over Francis and tells him he’ll have his back against Rich Swann at Genesis.
Match: TNA World Title Frankie Kazarian (c) Mike Santana
- We’re going to shave this match down to a solid 13 minutes. We’re going to get rid of the multiple Spin the Blocks and just book a simple, solid match that Santana wins. Post-match, The Nemeths beat down Santana with the help of Kazarian, only for the Nemeths to then beat down Kaz as well. Nemeth then says he AND HIS BROTHER have already been signed to join the Genesis main event and that his Call His Shot Trophy wasn’t used. This makes the Genesis main event something completely new and different. AJ Styles makes the save for Santana and Kazarian, running off the heels, helping Santana up off the mat, and posing with the new World Champion.
Winner: and new TNA World Champion Mike Santana
