Is Dean Ambrose Really Staying in the WWE? and More Wrestling News

Dean Ambrose has been at the center of a long viewed story.  Over the last few weeks, news of Ambrose leaving the company has been a prevalent one, leading to much speculation.  Mostly, that this is a work.  Feel that might be far fetched?  There are fans who think Roman Reigns’ cancer is a work.  Why?  Because the WWE has literally covered rape, murder, kidnapping, sexual assault and even home invasion as story line fodder.

Of course they’d be sceezey enough to fake an illness or lie about someone’s long term commitment or lack there of to the company.  That being said, I don’t personally believe that Reigns nor Ambrose’s respective situations are a work.  I believe they’re 100% honest.

The tale with Ambrose started to turn last week when rumors started to bubble up that he might actually stay in the WWE, now that Reigns was back.  Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer even commented on this, and claimed that he heard from wrestlers in the company that they now believe Ambrose is staying.

Though Dave Meltzer, Alvarez’s colleague begs to differ, stating that Ambrose is indeed leaving the company. I’ve also heard from someone that the Shield’s ‘reunion’ match was something they wanted to do for Reigns.  Reigns, Ambrose and Seth Rollins are reportedly really good friends, and with everything going on with Reigns and his return, this is seen as a gesture of goodwill of sorts.

Ambrose is also aware of the situation and sees how The Revival are being treated.  After winning the belts they’ve now been put at the mercy of main roster rookies, and are being buried for them to look better.  Ambrose sees that promises aren’t worth anything the WWE and he’d be better served leaving and forging a new path.

And that appears to be exactly what he’s going to do.

Cody Rhodes is trying some new things with AEW, like for starters saying that the promotion may never have an official home base as all four executives travel way too much.  Beyond that though, in talking to Nick Hausman of WrestlingINC, Rhodes had an interesting idea opposed to the WWE’s Developmental Center.  Instead of sending guys to a feeder promotion, – Rhodes named One Fall Power Factory as a place he’d consider – he’d be more open to the idea of sponsored trainees.  He even took a dig at the current structure, by putting over OVW saying;

I have access to a really good facility here in Atlanta…I have a really good facility that’s called the One Fall Power Factory that the AEW coordinator, Mike, he also is the coach there.  It would be a long shot to do a feeder system versus maybe some sponsored trainees instead. Where they could go to the different schools because that to me – people don’t talk about how great OVW was near enough because we didn’t have four rings and Shawn Michaels teaching us.

But we also weren’t told that we had to love wrestling.  You learned to love wrestling. You find like-minded people to go to the gym with, you watch wrestling with your friends, you weren’t just checking boxes. Not that that’s what they do but that’s why I like the idea of maybe some sponsored trainees instead. Ya Know, here’s four guys – and I know Matt Jackson has talked about doing something similar with OWE and China about maybe a bit of a trainee exchange. And that’s something that he could speak to, but yeah, I think maybe sponsored training more than a full time center. I don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves.

Despite claims to the contrary, Alexa Bliss is currently not injured again; at least according to the star herself.  Dave Meltzer went out of his way last night to say that Bliss had a new injury and that was keeping her on the sidelines again, after missing months due to a concussion.  It should be noted that it is more than possible that Bliss is injured, but the WWE has instructed her to stay quiet about it.  The WWE execs don’t like Meltzer, and any chance they can get to publicly discredit him, or attempt to, they’ll take.  For what it’s worth, Bliss hasn’t wrestled since the 25th of February, and has only wrestled three times all last month.  Since the start of January 2019, she’s only wrestled five times total.   So either she’s hurt, or she’s a liability.  She can pick for all I care, but it’s either one or the other.

Quick Hits Lacey Evans first feud on the main roster will apparently be with Natalya.  Mustafa Ali is expected to be backstage tonight at SmackDown and may return on screen since he’s been cleared to wrestle again.  Bayley is on record saying she’s open to the idea of intergender wrestling.
