IMPACT Press Conference – While nothing substantial was announced, several minor details did emerge from today’s Slammiversary press conference. Firstly we know that Taiji Ishimori will be back with IMPACT at the event. This is a good sign for those who are hoping for a NJPW/IMPACT working relationship, since Isimori is under a NJPW contract. We also found out that Johnny Impact will be at Slammiversary as well after he got married over the weekend to Knockout Taya Valkyrie. Then we found out that Austin Aries is retiring the Grand Championship to create a “Unified” World Championship.
In the last bit of news, it seems like the IMPACT execs are trying to work with Chris Jericho’s cruise down the line, as all three men (Don Callis, Scott D’Amore and Ed Nordholm) took turns answering that one specific question.
BOSJ 25 News – By now you all know that Hiromu Takahashi defeated Taiji Ishimori in the finals of the 25th annual Best of the Super Juniors. It was announced immediately after that HIromu would take on Will Osprey at Dominion this Saturday morning (Friday night local time). It was also revealed at the show that former IWGP Tag Team Champion Tomoaki Honma, who suffered a career threatening neck injury in 2017, would be returning to the ring as well at Dominion.
Quick Hits – NXT has cut Uriel Ealy and Zeda (Julie Ho) from their deals. This isn’t too far removed from Princess Kimber Lee getting the ax either. Tessa Blanchard claims to have been “heart broken” over getting passed by the WWE in 2014, but now sees it as a blessing. R-Truth has finally released a new hip hop single called “That’z Endurance”. I have no doubt it’s super extreme and was probably written in 1997. Jerry Lynn has transitioned to a referee role for the upcoming All In event on September 1st.
