DC Cancels Major Books, Update on ‘Super Son’s’ and More! – ComicCorp News

DC Cancels Another – After reports broke last week that “All New Superman” was being cancelled, reports broke last night that “Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps” was being cancelled as well. The series, unlike many others in comics, have been handled by one writer, Robert Venditti and each arch has seemingly blended into one another. Venditti’s run has been pretty well received, even to the point many called his run with the characters as good as Geoff Johns (or almost as good). The final issue will be #50, however many believe that this is just a way to retool the lineup and concept of the characters, as the book itself replaced the “Green Lantern Corp”, “White Lantern”, and “Red Lantern” books. So there’ll more than likely be more Lantern stories, just under a different headliner. I’d expect “Green Lanterns” to be retooled and cancelled as well, paving way for a singular “Green Lantern” title to return as well.

HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS #50

  • written by ROBERT VENDITTI
  • art and cover by RAFA SANDOVAL and JORDI TARRAGONA
  • variant cover by TYLER KIRKHAM
  • This. Is. It! It’s an extra-sized anniversary celebration, and one of the biggest battles the Green Lantern Corps has ever fought to mark the occasion. John Stewart issues a dramatic order: no lethal force! The Green Lanterns need to prove they can keep law and order in the universe without killing. Elsewhere, Hal Jordan faces down Tomar-Tu, and looks to use the Darkstars’ armor as a weapon against them—with some psychic help from Hector Hammond (who probably shouldn’t be trusted).

Super Son’s Update – For anyone hoping for more adventures of the young dynamic duo, well, keep waiting (sort of).  There is a new book coming out by Peter J. Tomasi (reprising his role with the original book) with art by Carlo Barberi and Art Thibert, but it won’t be “new” stories.  The events of the series will be covered in a twelve-issue maxiseries (a longer miniseries), and will focus on events that happened at the time of the original book, that just weren’t talked about.  It looks like the purpose of this book is to focus on Damian Wayne’s Robin and Johnathon Kent’s Superboy before they became friends and more when they were rivals.

Quick Hits – Scott Snyder hinted that Superboy Prime may make a return to the DC Universe now that the Source Wall has been destroyed in the events of Dark Night’s Metal. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that The Expanse, SyFy’s recently cancelled show, is about to land on Amazon barring any issues. This would make the second major show saved after initial cancellation this season; following Brooklyn 99.  Marvel confirms new “Wolverine” series spinning out of “Hunt for Wolverine: Dead End’s”.   Gotham will adapt “Batman: Zero Year” for their final seaosn.  Kiersey Clemons claims she’s still in the upcoming Flash film.  “Batwoman” is ending in August with issue #18.
