SteppenWolf Background – We know that the monster that the Trinity fought in Dawn of Justice wasn’t the first version of Doomsday, as the computer program essentially said that ever bringing another one to life was against the law. Apparently Hollywood Magazine unveiled some details about Steppenwolf’s history with Darkseid, Doomsday, and more. Here’s the exerpt below;
“The uncle of the universe’s greatest villain, Darkseid, and a member of his elite force, Steppenwolf survived a battle with Doomsday. That should tell you just how powerful he is. Aside from his strength and near-immortality, he’s also an expert tactician and wields a vicious electro-axe that can cut through just about anything.
“Steppenwolf’s primary role is as the leader of the parademons, the storm troopers who seek to destroy in the name of Darkseid. His primary mission is to serve his nephew, and his status as the main villain in Justice League suggests the scope of the threat facing Earth, as well as the inevitable appearance of Darkseid himself.
“Irish star Ciaran Hinds plays the role in the movie, though he will appear through the use of motion-capture technology. According to the actor, in the film, Steppenwolf is old, tired, and trying desperately to get out from under his servitude to his nephew.”
Dark Tower Reboot Happening? – The “Dark Tower” film was largely a failure, and it was something that really disrupted the plans for the franchise. There was a television project in the works, but with the failure of the film, it looks like the series, which would of been a prequel, is being changed. Stephen King spoke recently about the failure of him of his more iconic works, and here’s what he said about the tv series;
The major challenge was to do a film based on a series of books that’s really long, about 3,000 pages. The other part of it was the decision to do a PG-13 feature adaptation of books that are extremely violent and deal with violent behavior in a fairly graphic way…The TV series they’re developing now…we’ll see what happens with that. It would be like a complete reboot,” he added, “so we’ll just have to see.
Will Taika Waititi Tackle Star Wars? – Waititi is getting praise for making Marvel’s best comedy yet. When asked about if he would ever hop genres and brands within Disney, to the Star Wars world, he responded with the following;
That particular franchise seems really hard…There’s not much room for someone like me.
The reasons is simple, MCU is taking the DCEU approach now, with director lead projects. While Star Wars, which isn’t a knock, wants all their films to feel like one another, something that doesn’t appeal to the
They want new voices and different ways of telling stories…All the work to do with actors, all the rescripting stuff in the moment — that’s what I want to do, really. I’m always going to leave the CG stuff up to someone else.
Will Hulk Get Another Shot? – After two lackluster MCU “Hulk” films that are largely ignored now, many are clamoring about a third “Hulk” standalone, now that Mark Ruffalo has has cemented his place as a fan favorite Marvel hero. Despite leaning heavily on The Hulk in the upcoming films, no solo outing is planned. When asked if a Hulk film will ever happen, Kevin Feige responded with;
I think that back and forth continues, and I don’t know if it will ever happen. But I will tell you, it makes me very, very happy going from a world, ten years ago, when people were questioning the viability of Hulk in a standalone film, to getting asked every other interview, ‘When will there be another standalone Hulk?’
Quick Hits – Kevin Feige confirms that Alison Brie will be in “Avengers 4”, which seems to be the launching point of a new MCU era, without many major names apart of it. Marvel plans on having J. Jonah Jameson find out Spider-Man’s secret identity in the near future. Rumors have circulated that the Marvel One-Shots will return in the near future.
