Stan Lee Allegations – We mentioned on ComicCorp last night that we’re taking a wait and see approach with this Stan Lee situation. Another unidentified source, this time in Chicago, has reached out to the UK’s Daily Mail again and this time accused Stan Lee of asking for oral sex while visiting a high end hotel. The source claims Lee was drunk, out of control, an was groping her. The source also goes to say that the lady is demanding money from Stan Lee and his people, which of course is going to cause many to take pause and question the situation.
The whole situation would be far more damning in my opinion if it wans’t from the Daily Mail, who have had a slew of false stories scandals and payouts to alleged sources to dish on a juicy gossip. This is a news outlet accused of racism, homophobia, sexism, and have had numerous lawsuits brought against them for lying. Prominent examples include Melania Trump, who they accused of being an escort in the 90’s, J.K. Rowling for lying about a story she had written, Parameswaran Subramanyam for claiming she fed on burgers in secret during a 23 day hunger strike.
So like I said on the show last night and in the first report; The Daily Mail is the last outlet that I’ll trust. If it were the Washington Post, L.A. Times or the AP, then yeah; I’d be more inclined to believe the alleged victims.
That doesn’t mean these accusations aren’t true, it merely means that others need to do better research to bring the story to light. It also means some victims may need to come out and speak out on this publicly.
DC Announces New Project – Those worried that Brian Michael Bendis will bring his Social Justice projects with him may need to get worried. John Ridley, famed writer of the Oscar winning movie “12 Year a Slave” is writing an interesting new miniseries called “The Other History of the DC Universe”, which will focus on minority characters and their day-to-day life behind the capes. There will be some who will surely object and take umbrage with this, but I suggest we all just hang on and wait to judge it on the storytelling, and not on anything else.
‘Last Jedi’ Bombs – China, the second largest market for films, has spoke up about the debate regarding “The Last Jedi”. And they decreed in one, singular voice; “BOOOO!” The film has been pulled from 92% of it’s screenings, and now is only on 2.6% of the SCREENS in China. We’re not even talking about the number of theaters, as most theaters have 20 or more screens. They’re only on 2.6% of SCREENS. They made just $34.2 million in China over the first seven days, an abysmal number for the brand.
The audience is clearly not on board with this film, which should silence a lot of people stateside who continue to decree it the best film ever. Which they’re only doing to avoid the truth; that Disney ruined Star Wars.
Quick Hits – Warner Bros. has vacated the July 27th, 2018 release slot which was intended for the ‘Flash Point’ film. No reason has been given as to why, as of yet. Marvel has cancelled “Secret Warriors” due to poor sales. “Shazam” will debut on April 5th, 2019. Norman Reedus doesn’t want to leave “The Walking Dead” until the series ends. Conan The Barbarian will once again be printed under the Marvel Comics banner.
