Top Name Joining IMPACT? – In what could be the ultimate tease, it’s reported by Dave Meltzer that IMPACT is close to bringing in Rey Mysterio to the promotion. With it’s open contract policy, a bountiful foreign market and the lack of places that’ll still work with Konnan, Rey joining IMPACT might finally happen. Mysterio was close to signing with IMPACT about a year ago but the deal fell through when specifics couldn’t be made. There might of been some hesitation with Rey and who was running the company then. However, Scott D’Amore and Don Callis have a much better reputation and could secure the Hall of Famer finally. We’ll know by this weeks tapings if he’s coming in.
Major Indy Name Coing in? – IMPACT might get another huge boost this week, as rumors have Su Yung coming into IMPACT Wrestling. She’s worked with them before back in 2015 as a one off, but this time around Yung has a pretty cool gimmick and if they bring her in with that gimmick, things could get interesting.
Opinion: Yung’s a fine enough in ring talent but it’s her gimmick that has me interested in her being brought in. The money feud you could have with Rosemary could be huge, if done right. Yung is known as the Blood Bride and is similar in some ways to Rosemary’s gimmick. If Yung can have a character feud with Rosemary then I think fans will really tune in for that.
Major NJPW Touring News – In what I can only imagine as being a no-brainer, the folks at NJPW have announced that a tour of Australia is happening. This should of been obvious, as Fale hinted at a major announcement strictly on the Australian NJPW Facebook page. Duh.
They’re set for four days in February for the 16th in Adelaide, the 17th in Melbourne, the 18th in Sydney and the 19th in Perth. Tickets go on sale on January 12th at 9 a.m.
This is a bit of a surprise because apparently it’s closer to L.A. for Japan to travel than it is Australia. However, this is a cool thing and could be a new market for NJPW to get into. Australia is a big country and is far closer to Japan that it is the United States, which makes it a region it can start developing.
Just imagine NJPW of America and NJPW of Australia dojo’s and regular tours. Oh, the WWE will freak…
Samoa Joe News – Samoa Joe will be voicing Predaking in the new Transformers cartoon “Power of the Primes”. It’s also being mentioned by Kurt Angle that Joe was injured on RAW. Joe was the winner to be the last Mix/Match/Paddywhack male wrestler but was withdrawn from the voting due to the injury. I’m hearing it’s not serious, as Joe is still booked for the Royal Rumble. Also, Joe and John Cena are not booked at WrestleMania against one another; according to Dave Meltzer.
Update – Joe’s injury is confirmed to be a foot injury and his recovery time is not yet known.
Quick Hits – RAW dropped by 3% from last week, pulling in 2.766 million views. Serena Deeb is rumored to be coming back to the WWE. Despite rumors to her leaving, IMPACT has released a new Laurel Van Ness shirt. Don Callis is heading to Orlando and wants to stress that it will take some time for IMPACT to rebound under he and Scott D’Amore’s leadership.
