Fox’s Immediate Future – Despite a strong possibility that the deal is killed by Capital Hill, Disney’s acquisition of Fox is underway as we speech. The hangup though is that this is going to take a while. The Democrats in Senate and the House are looking at anti-trade issues, as Disney and ABC would acquire around 300 channels. This has cause some to believe that Disney would leverage cable providers to increase the amount they pay Disney for access to their channels, thereby increasing the cost viewers pay for cable. This issue should be compounded even more so if Capital Hill fails to overturn the FCC’s ruling on the internet being a utility for public use. The hearing is expected eventually but no time has been set, so it could take anywhere from 12-18 months to finalize the deal. In the meantime Fox will continue to work through their current schedule of t.v. shows and movies, so there isn’t going to be any major cancellations of t.v. shows or films for the foreseeable future.

Vande Hei tweeted out a photo of the crew of the International Space Station watching “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Vande Hei is a photographer too, and looking at the photos he’s taken of cities from space are breathtakingly beautiful and I encourage everyone to follow him.
