“Shocking News” Kojima’s ‘Death Stranding’ Behind Schedule and More Nerd News

Let me be clear, Hideo Kojima made a few good games.  That’s really it.  I love Metal Gear Solid, but after Kojima parted ways with lead writer Tomokazu Fukushima after Metal Gear Solid 3 the franchise went into the gutter.  MGS 4 still holds up, but that’s a finality thing.  It’s easy to end something.

Part of why Kojima was fired from Konami was the exuberant price tag that Metal Gear Solid 5 was saddled with.  Kojima went over budget time and time again to the point where Konami couldn’t make back the money, and had to rush it to release.

Yet fans blame Konami.

Well, Kojima is doing it again. Death Stranding is behind schedule.  Speaking to J-Wave, he revealed the game is not finished, but the story is.  No release date was ever given for the game, and I have to imagine it was never close to coming out in 2019, nor should we expect it until the latter half of 2020.

Keep in mind that the longer a game is worked on, the more it costs to make.  The more it costs to make, the more the game has to sell.  The more the game has to sell, the less likely it is to be successful.  If the game fails to be a massive success, the studio Kojima launched will be dead in the water on their first project.

This is why Kojima can’t be trusted with money.  He has no idea the impact this has the longer he draws it out.

In more “…but you didn’t have to” news, The Hollywood Reporter is claiming a Rush Hour reboot is in the works with women in the starring roles.  This follows in the footsteps of Ocean’s 8, the failed Galbusters film, and the announcement of a ‘Bad Boys’ t.v. show but with female leads.  However, the Bad Boys series is a spin-off with main cast stars from the original being used; while another film featuring the original duo is in the works.  So that gets saved from reboot scrutiny.   I’m not sure how viable the story is, because they list embattled and shamed Chinese star BingBing Li attached to the film.  BingBing had problems with the Chinese government last year over wage issues.  She’s been a ghost since the end of October 2018.  And oddly enough, our coverage on her is somehow gone from the site.  It could be just a server issue but still; weird right?  Anyway, expect a lot of push back against this film, because fans don’t want reboots.  Stop doing reboots.

Quick HitsJean-Claude Van Damme told reporters recently that he left the 1987 production of Predator due to issues with being in the Predator suit; Van Damme believed he would be shown without any masks or suits.  The Hashtag Show is reporting that Emma Watson is currently viewed as the top choice to play the leading villain in the Black Widow film.
