Ghostbusters Eyeing ‘Stranger Things’ Star and More Nerd News

Fans of the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel-boot (sequel and reboot) will have familiar faces to look forward to.  While the original cast is back for the mots part, the onus of the film is to relaunch the brand with new and recognizable stars while keeping the continuity of the films intact.

That’s why it’s not surprising to hear modern horror star Finn Wolfhard is on the shortlist to star.  The sixteen year old star of Stranger Things is considered to be the big ticket get for the film according to Variety, after blowing away people at his audition.

If he’s ultimately cast, the film will focus on him and his mother, currently being rumored to involve Carrie Coon in the role.  The two will be the catalyst for the film, though details are scare and this is mostly rumors at this pint.

In Other News…

Doom Patrol‘s 4th episode of the season will feature Supernatural alum Mark Sheppard guest-starring as Willoughby Kipling, a character Grant Morrison created for his Doom Patrol run because Morrison couldn’t use John Constantine.

 

CW is out to ruin another property apparently.  The Lost Boys t.v. series, adapted from the popular 80’s film will feature gender-swapped versions of the iconic Frog Brothers.  Why?  Because.  The Frog Sisters will be played by Cheyenne Haynes and Haley Tju.  The role of David, played by Kiefer Sutherland in the film, will now go to Dakota Shapiro; while Sarah Hay will play Mollie – one of David’s turned vampires.   Tyler Posey of Teen Wolf, Kiele Sanchez and Medalion Rahimi have been cast as well.

Fans of the iconic TNT horror block on the weekends called MonsterVision will remember Joe Bob Briggs, and his hilarious show where he hosted b-movie horror films.  The Angry Video Game Nerd actually did a look back at this show, so if you want to check out some history regarding the show you can.  Well, Joe Bob Briggs is back in the hosting chair with Shudder, as he’s been given reigns over another series.   Below is the trailer for the upcoming show that starts on March 29th and will run until May 24th.  The series will feature a double feature of horror films.

 

Quick HitsThe Hashtag Show is reporting that Chloe Zhao and Marvel Studios hope to cast their first openly gay male lead role as Ikaris of the upcoming Eternals film.  Alan Tudyk has been in demand recently, with SyFy ordering a full series order of his next project; Resident AlienZack Snyder is doing a three-day event at the ArtCenter called The Director’s Cuts.  Deadline is reporting that the Flash directors are again re-writing the script.  The Invisible Man film is still going forward despite The Mummy’s failures; though Elizabeth Moss will be attached to the project and Johnny Depp has been cut from the film.
