Arn Anderson Fired For Challenging Vince McMahon? and More Wrestling News

Arn Anderson has been fired and no one seems to know why, except Dave Meltzer.  Shocking.  Meltzer revealed on an episode of his show that Anderson got fired over an incident with Vince McMahon that not many were privy too.

Anderson had a history of backing “the boys” over “the office” and that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.  With the declining ratings, the issues with quality over quantity and just the sure absent minded booking, apparently Anderson and McMahon came to ahead.

According to Meltzer;

Arn got fired. It’s an incident, I mean everyone is pretty much keeping quiet about what it was, but it was an incident with Vince. I know people who are siding with Arn. I know people who are siding with Vince. I don’t know the whole details of the incident other than it was something at a house show that evidently wasn’t handled well and Arn took the blame for that.

Arn and Vince were not really on the best of terms. There had been a lot of situations over the years and another one not too long ago. You know the thing with Arn is he’s well-liked by key people — Triple H, John Cena, you know he’s John Cena’s agent.

Meltzer is usually pretty spot-on with these types of claims, mind you.  The people who often speak out against him are the ones who are often being dragged, like Bruce Prichard and Eric Bischoff.   In fact, Shane Helms himself noted that the boys were often fans of Meltzer; and that’s for a reason.  The sheer notion this is wrong is just mind-boggling.  More to the point, Vince has fired people for far less.  If Anderson, not one to bite his tongue historically, gave Vince an earful and Vince was feeling particularly self-conscious that day, – yeah- I could see Anderson getting fired on the spot.

Anderson is a free agent for the first time in decades.  He was with WCW until it was bought out, and then came over in the deal with the WWE to start working as an announcer, then an agent.  Anderson is only 60, and still has a desire to work obviously.  The question goes to now, where will he end up?

IMPACT is going younger, looking at Paul London, and ROH is not known for it’s consistency with talent, beyond a handful of names.  More than likely he’ll end up in AEW with Cody Rhodes and Anderson being close.

In Other News…

IMPACT Wrestling has just signed arguably one of the top five best free agents on the Canadian scene; Josh Alexander.  The 31-year old agreed to a three year deal that Scott D’Amore offered him, right after a title-match victory.  Alexander confirmed he signed the deal an hour or so later via Twitter.  Alexander is known for his headgear, a classic wrestling accessory in the amateur ranks, and has a bit of ‘Steiner’ in his attire.  The grappler will more than likely debut in a few weeks at Rebellion, or the proceeding shows after, which are based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Quick Hits – The Young Bucks cost The Lucha Bros the AAW Tag Team Titles, continuing their build to Double or Nothing.  In possibly unrelated news, LAX won the AAW Tag Team Titles.  It’s been confirmed that WALTER and Pete Dunne will have their first ever match under the NXT banner (but not their first match ever, mind you) at NXT Takeover: New York.  Expect a lot of false finishes and stiff moves because that’s all Takeovers have become.
