Did The CW Cancel Arrow for Batwoman? and More Nerd News!

No, the CW did not.  Excuse the click bait but this was the best title to lead you to here for some really impressive news.  The CW has, probably the earliest they’ve ever done this, early re-newed most of their top shows for new seasons.  This includes Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Black Lighting and unfortunately Legends of Tomorrow.  For these shows they’ll officially get an eight, sixth, fifth, third and fifth seasons respectively.  Add Batwoman’s possible involvement after the pilot was ordered and Batwoman could add a sixth DC show to their slate of CW shows.  It should be noted that Batwoman hasn’t filmed the pilot, let alone gone to CW for approval yet.

Joining them are Charmed and Legacies, each getting as second season ,despite Charmed not being as embraced as the original was.  Joining them however will be Riverdale, which was widely expected.  The show does gang-busters on Netflix and CW likes that sweet-sweet Netflix money.

The true surprise though was that Supernatural was again picked up for a remarkable 15th season!  The show was in no danger of being axed due to ratings, but comments from the cast about wanting to maybe close the door on 300 and some odd episodes were made over a  year and half ago.  That no longer seems to be the desired option by series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.  The CW and the Supernatural show-runners have tried to launch a second spin off show on two different occasions and a third may be in order.  This is bolstered by John Winchester, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan set to make his return to the franchise for the first time as a visible on screen character since season two’s finale.  His last involvement prior to this current season, was in season three but it was strictly an audio cameo.

The cast of Amazon Prime’s animated series Invincible has been released and as expected, The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun is the lead Mark Grayson.  In an interesting bit of casting, J.K. Simmons will voice Omni Man, who’s essentially a bad guy for the series.  The series will also ee Gillian Jaocbs, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamil, Mae Whitman and Kevin Michael Richardson all take roles that have yet to be revealed.  The series will be eight, one hour long episodes lead by Teen Titans show runner Simon Racioppa.  The complete look at the talent can be seen here.

Quick Hits Resident Evil’s eight installment is rumored to be switching back to third person, after the seventh was made first person, mostly because the hype around VR Gaming has declined sharply.  Resident Evil 3 is being remade as well, but will be like the remake of the first two; third person.  Fuller House, the much maligned and panned revival of Full House was greenlit for a fifth and final season by Netflix.  Big Bang Theory will air a Dungeons and Dragons episode featuring Kevin Smith, Will Shatner, Joe Manganiello, and NBA icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
