I want to make this clear; I LIKE Maria Kanellis and her husband Mike Bennett. I want them to succeed and prosper in this industry we all love. That being said, when you say there’s no fire, and the second floor of your house is billowing smoke, then I’m going to think you’re lying.
Maria Kanellis made a big stink about Ryan Satin’s report that the couple asked for their WWE release, despite having the opportunity to provide an official on the record comment denying it. She refused. Then she launched out on a take down post on social media, denouncing the relevancy of the news.
Well, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the Kanellis-Bennett tandem are officially off the road. It’s hard to deny that you’re not seeking a release if you’re not working. Now, maybe her attack on Satin was a way to avoid punishment, and maybe the couple being removed from the road is because of said punishment. The WWE has been known to punish talent for rumors that make the company look bad, so this isn’t an unthinkable idea.
However, Maria herself just posted a new photo to Instagram, showing her on the indy scene from a few years back. The couple haven’t been used on t.v. in over a month, they’ve reportedly asked for a release and now Maria is looking back fondly at her career when she had complete control over it? One thing is an incident. Two things is a coincidence. Three things is a pattern. We have a pattern here folks. To further compound things, the couple had a Valentine’s Day special planned to air on the WWE Network, but that has since been pulled from the schedule.
It’s going to be hard to deny they didn’t request a release wit hall this mounting evidence to the contrary.

Those wacky folks at the WWE are sure enjoying a weird start to 2019. After RAW had two weeks of record lows, the ratings surged to 2.72 million viewers, up nearly a million viewers from the Holidays. However on the go-home-show for Royal Rumble, usually a ratings winner, the ratings dropped dramatically to 2.462 million, down around 300,000 viewers from the week prior.
This is paired nicely with Triple H doing a media call for Takeover: Phoenix. Besides announcing he’s cleared to start training again from his injury, he essentially confirmed the Lars Sullivan story by being vague about it. In his own words (via WrestleZone), Triple H said;
There’s a lot of speculation and stories about everybody at all times and it’s a funny thing. If there’s any glitch in a movement for a moment then there’s a lot of talk. Lars is in a good place. Nothing has really changed. We’re moving forward and you’ll know when you see it. Nothing has changed.
