Why Were There No Leaguers in Aquaman, Tony Hawk Movie Cancelled and More!

In DC News, Aquaman is on pace for $1 billion.  It’s surpassed $887 million worldwide, and has also surpassed The Dark Knight Rises‘ overseas earning with $649.3 million so far.  The film is expected to break $1 billion and may even topple Dark Knight Rises overall take, at $1.085 billion.  That is I believe DC’s highest mark to date.  The film isn’t expected to surpass Wonder Woman or Dawn of Justice locally though, as those films fared better Stateside.  I need to get on the Aquaman train, everyone I know who’s seen it loves it.

In other Aquaman news, James Wan revealed why he didn’t include any cameos from his fellow Leaguers, telling Huffington Post;

I just feel like this is his stand-alone movie, just let it be about Aquaman.  I feel like all the other characters have had so many movies; audiences have known all the other characters in all the other movies, all these different projects. Let this be Aquaman’s time in the spotlight.

In other DC news, The Long Halloween is being made into a two-part animated movie, according to Revenge of the Fans.  The cast has been leaked, though names have not been revealed.  Long time Bat-fam actors are returning like like Troy Baker (Batman in several video games), Jensen Ackles (Red Hood in Rise of the Red Hood), David Dastmalchian (acted on Gotham/Dark Knight), as well as Naya Rivera (Glee) and Titus Welliver (Supernatural/Sons of Anarchy).

In Shazam! rumors, there appears to be two working possibilities coming in the upcoming film.  Firstly, it looks as if the Shazam Family will make their debut at some point in the film. Something we’ve suspected with the casting of the film.

Also there seems to be a strong idea that the Seven Deadly Sins will appear.  The Sins are a group of biblical entities who seek to destroy Billy Batson and his friends, like villains ten to do.  With the idea of the Shazam Family being involved, it makes sense that they’d go head to head with The Sins.

Warner Bros. Animation has announced the voice cast for the upcoming new Justice League vs. Fatal Five film.  The cast will include DC Animated Universe mainstays Kevin Conroy (Batman), George Newbern (Superman) and Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman).  They’ll be joined by voice actor mainstay and regular DC contributor Kevin Michal Richardson (playing Mr. Terrific), Noel Fisher (Brainiac 5) and Tara Strong (Saturn Girl).   Joining them as the villains are Peter Jessop (Thorak), Tom Kenny (Bloodsport), Matthew Kang King (The Persuader), Sumalee Montano (Emerald Empress) and Phillip Anthony Rodriguez (Mano).  The synopsis is below;

Justice League vs. The Fatal Five finds the fate of the earth hanging in the balance when the Justice League faces a powerful new threat – the Fatal Five! Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman seek answers as the time-traveling trio of Mano, Persuader and Tharok terrorize Metropolis in search of budding Green Lantern, Jessica Cruz. With her unwilling help, they aim to free remaining Fatal Five members Emerald Empress and Validus to carry out their sinister plan. But the Justice League has also discovered an ally from another time in the peculiar Star Boy – brimming with volatile power, could he be the key to thwarting the Fatal Five? An epic battle against ultimate evil awaits!

Tony Hawk confirmed some of the saddest news ever by revealing he was set for a Warner Bros. movie starring the Looney Tune.  The film, tentatively titled Skate Jam, would of been in the same vein of Space Jam, but this was back in 2003 when the Looney Tune brand was in flux.  After Looney Tunes: Back in Action failed to live up to expectations, all future projects were shelved.    The Skate Board legend even shared an old illustration from a 2001 event.
