‘Captain Marvel’ Character Revealed, ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Update and More!

In the ‘Worst Kept Secret Since Finding Out No One Really Died in the Infinity War’ news pile, yes after months of predictions it’s finally happened.  Jude Law is Mar-Vell.   Whoopie.  Mar-Vell was the original Marvel Captain Marvel.  Not to be confused with the original Captain Marvel proper, which is DC’s Shazam.  The webpage for the movie listed Law as Mar-Vell in the photo just above (click to enlarge) but after visiting the website myself, I found that the photo has since been altered, which you can see directly to the right.

Clearly this was a fuck-up on Marvel’s part but also; why keep it a secret?  It’s not like we’re expecting big things from Mar-Vell, nor is he going to be given much to do in someone eles’s movie.  More over, how many people are going to see the female Captain Marvel’s film, in the hopes of seeing a little used character from 30 years ago?  Seems like a lot of work for nothing.  Could you imagine if the next Batman film played coy about IF Alfred would be in the film?  How dumb is that?

In other MCU news, Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. is allegedly getting a seventh season.  The filming and production for season six just ended, but production on season seven is reportedly right around the corner.  A ‘scoop’ account on Twitter called DiscussingFilm shared a tweet about the production schedule, claiming that February would begin filming for the next season.

In anime news, Pokemon fans can get geared up because on New Year’s Day here in the West, the trailer for the upcoming Mewtwo movie debuts.  The film is called Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution and The Pokemon Company have apparently confirmed the date for the trailer.  The film is expected to follow in the timeline of Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You, which was a soft reboot of sorts for the franchise.

In Aquaman news, Variety is reporting that the sea-born savior is getting a rare extended release in China by the government.  The film will be played in China until February 6th, 2019.    According to Variety;

Foreign revenue-sharing films in China are typically given a 30-day release window by industry regulators.  Only some receive an extra 30-day extension and usually only when the film is performing strongly.

This was the same treatment given Venom, and that film did gangbusters at the theaters both locally and internationally.  So this is great news for Aquaman.
