205 Live in Trouble? Major MTV Name at WWE Tryout and More!

205 Live is in trouble.  According to Dave Metlzer, the show has hit some pretty low ratings ever since being moved to Wednesday in favor of the Mixed Match Challenge.  Meltzer claims the ratings have hit a significant drop in recent years, and according to Meltzer the current plan is to keep 205 Live on Wednesdays.  With the ratings in the toilet, house shows being down and a general lack of interest in the WWE product by and large, it’ll be interesting to see if they keep the Cruiserweight’s around much longer.  It’s beyond frustrating to see this happening, but considering guys like Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio need to be on this brand, are you really surprised?   When Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander are your top guys, this is what happens.

I’m not going to go through each and every name in the most recent WWE Tryout because, well who cares about bikini models?  Right?  The few names that do stand out though are Eric Spicely, Meremiah Buoni and Tina Rivas.  Spicely is a former UFC Middleweight fighter, but the 10-4 fighter hasn’t fought since May of this year and was released from his deal.  Buoni is currently on one of MTV’s bigger shows FloriBama Shore, and has a small yet devoted fan base behind him.  Some could draw the comparison to The Miz, who got his break on MTV’s Real World.  Rivas is set to be on The Rock’s new Titan Games series, so you could see why she would be given a shot regardless of how she looks in her tryout.

Brody King talked to Sean Waltman on Waltman’s XPAC 12360 podcast.  King revealed that he’s still working full time outside of pro wrestling, despite his new (alleged) deal with ROH.  King revealed why he would turn down the WWE, saying;

My work ethic is pretty good, I have a full-time job that I work Monday through Friday and I also train five days a week. I don’t think I can sacrifice the life that I have now to have like a starting rate at somewhere like WWE, that would be huge blow to me in my personal life. The stuff that I have coming up that I cannot confirm or deny, I am able to do my job part-time which is like the best part-time job in the world cause when you want work you can look for it and when you don’t, you don’t look for it. And I can do that and do my wrestling career full-time.

Konnan recently shared his thoughts on what IMPACT needs to continue to grow, and it was pretty much the most obvious answer possible, saying;

Well, I think that Impact has a great product right now. Not because I work there because if you’ve ever heard some of my past interviews, I’m not afraid to bury s–t even if I’m still in the company if it isn’t any good.  There’s great talent. There [are] great storylines. That cannot be argued. I think we need a couple of people on the show that move the needle, but bigger than that, way bigger than that, we need to be on a better network. And I think once Impact gets on a better network, the sky’s the limit. It really is because you’re giving people some really good TV.
