Russo’s Not Necessarily Done With MCU, Star Wars Disqualified from Oscars and more!

The Russo Brothers have made some of Marvel’s best films starting with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  They’ve been in charge of the last two Avenger films, Infinity War and the upcoming Endgame.  The Russo’s are not penned for any other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon but when asked about it by Business Insider, Joe Russo was very candid about his long term outlook with Marvel, saying;

We love Marvel, we’ve had an incredible experience with them.  It’s why we’ve made four movies in six years with them. They’re like family to us. I think they do a great job of separating “church and state,” where we’re focused on the projects we’re focused on, and someone else will focus on those other projects. We’d work with them in any capacity moving forward, and we value as much as anything in our work life the quality of the people we’re around and quality of the life that we have when we’re working with those people, and that’s A++ when you’re working with Marvel.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is still taking shots to the face.   After a dismal showing that may of single handily curtail the entirety of the extended Star Wars cinematic universe, they are now dealing with another embarrassment; being disqualified from the Oscars.  The film wasn’t going to win for anything, except maybe music.  The score was composed by John Powell, who used some of John Williams themes as well.  The film though won’t see any nominations due to the fact that the film was submitted after the deadline.  All entries had to be in by November 15th, a time frame that Disney and Lucasfilms couldn’t make.

Birds of Prey have added to their rogues gallery.   The current rumor going around is that Chris Messina will play the serial killer Victor Zsasz.  In the film Zsasz will be working with Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask, more than likely as his number one.  Zsasz is making his second live action appearance in recent times as he was a major character on the set of Gotham.  The man who played him in Gotham is Anthony Carrigan, and he has officially signed off on Messina’s casting.  I enjoy Messina, having watched him on The Newsroom, I’m intrigued to see how he pulls off this role.

The Hollywood Reporter is dishing out some interesting tidbits today about the return of a live action Ultraman project.  The team behind Ultraman has signed a deal with Starlight Runner Entertainment to develop a live action streaming series.  The Hollywood Reporter reports that this is a multi tier deal that will also see merchandising, and this plan will be supported by programs on cable, streaming services, and SVOD.

In some rather interesting news, Rob Liefled reportedly turned down cameos in Deadpool 2 and Hawk and Dove’s episodes of Titans, citing that he’s the “anti-cameo” guy.  Really?  I think it’s just because people are no longer fans of him, personally.  That’s just me though.
