Apologizes for not getting around to this sooner, been under the weather for the last day or so. I’m back though, and while some of these news stories may seem a bit outdated, I feel my opinion is needed.
Firstly, Cody Rhodes recently revealed on Bruce Prichard’s Something to Wrestle podcast that he turned down a WWE contract a few weeks ago. This lends more credence to the idea of Cody and The Young Bucks starting their own promotion in 2019, as ROH’s Joe Koff is of the mindset that the Elite won’t be back in ROH next year. One name expected to be around in ROH going forward though is Marty Scurll, who was mentioned by name by Koff himself as one of the building blocks for the new year.
This leads us to the validation of a rumor that started going around a week or two back, that the WWE was tampering with other talents and their contracts in order to sign as many talent as possible and kill the indy scene. Court Bauer of Major League Wrestling recently tweeted about Hector Garza Jr. no-showing his contractual obligations in order to meet with the WWE instead of his MLW work. Bauer called him unprofessional. Garza spoke out on this, saying he didn’t go to negotiate but simply visit friends; completely ignoring the part where Bauer claims he skipped out on pre-tapes.
We brought in Garza along with Ultimo Ninja this past spring. They vanished, blowing off pre tapes to meet across town with @WWE Talent Relations and negotiate deals. Super talented guys but that was unprofessional and puts you on my do not disturb list. Sketchy move by WWE too. https://t.co/ghwbXCFHKi

It wasn’t for negotiations, we just go to see the show and visit some friends, the negotiations we haved time ago. But if that error bothers you in name of my cousin and I we are sorry bro https://t.co/O3xmPza6wL

In less fun news, Big Cass suffered a stroke at the most recent House of Hardcore show. Cass was in the lobby of the 2300 Arena on Saturday getting ready to meet and greet, when he fell to the floor. There are photos circulating online but as that is tactless and disgusting I won’t be posting those here. Shame on those who snapped the photos for likes. Tommy Dreamer, HOH’s owner, lead the arena in prayer at the end of the night in support of Cass. For some reason though, Dreamer made mention that it wasn’t drug related. Not sure why that was necessary. Dreamer updated fans today, saying that Cass was in stable condition.
In other ROH news, apparently Joe Koff wanted to show the wrestling world that ROH and Sinclair aren’t the same kind of bad guys as the WWE. ROH signed PCO and several other names, complicating a tense issue for HOH already. Apparently several talent pulled off the HOH show from this weekend due to signing exclusive contracts and injuries devastating the card. Koff showed up to the show though with Mark and Jay Briscoes in tow as gift for Dreamer and HOH.
Finally, Jeanie Buss‘s Women of Wrestling reboot finally has a trailer. WOW is set to be the first female only pro wrestling series on cable, and the first one on TV in nearly 30 years. The preview builds around Tessa Blanchard, which is just the smartest thing to do in any situation.
From the founder of the ’80s hit TV series and cult classic GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling), comes “WOW-Women Of Wrestling” (WOW) – the only nationally televised all-female professional wrestling series. Coming Friday, January 18th to AXS TV! 😈💪🏼 #womenofwrestling pic.twitter.com/V6WBzKP6lH
