Xbox Making Announcement Tonight? Capcom Remaking Another Game? and More!

It’s kind of interesting to see how Xbox has staved off irrelevancy after the lackluster, dare I say failure of the Xbox 1.  Yet Phil Spencer is leading the brand in a new direction.  Ever since he took over, Spencer started acquiring respected game studios in the hope of developing better games for the Xbox brand.  Spencer is a presenter at tonight’s Video Game awards, and is hyping up the possibility of an announcement.  More so, he seems to have a clue about what to and not to do as the new head of Xbox.  Namely, avoiding EA as a studio to acquire.  When asked if Microsoft and Xbox would acquire EA, Spencer said;

If you watch the studio acquisitions we’ve done, we’re focused on creative teams that we think can build very interesting content to help the flywheel Game Pass grow and our platforms grow.  We’re probably less interested in management teams and infrastructure and things that we already have inside of our organization. And you can just look at the track record. We’ve added seven studios in six months, and if you look at them, I think you’ll see certain evaluations.

But more importantly, the creative teams that we’re picking up, [we’re doing it] knowing that we can then plug them into a Microsoft infrastructure, an Xbox infrastructure to help those teams succeed, with more solid funding, alignment towards goals around Game Pass, reaching gamers everywhere.  And we don’t have to pay for some of the things that some of the bigger publishers have, that we probably already have under our roof.\

One name not at the Video Game Awards is Hideo Kojima, who is developing the new Death Stranding game still.

However, we might see some Resident Evil 2 footage tonight.  The game is being remade and it’s being highly touted . However, according to a Resetera post, by way of ComicBook.com, there’s a new remake coming to Capcom as well.  This one though is Resident Evil 3: NemesisA poster by the name of Dusk Golem is being quoted as saying;

I’m keeping my lips sealed on anything else so don’t ask, but REmake 3 is in full development right now.  I think beyond that they’re waiting to see how REmake 2 and REmake 3 perform, but REmake 2 almost assuredly is going to perform well.

Even if this is a b.s. claim, it’s extremely plausible.  RE2 is expected to sell very well, just like the GameCube remake of Resident Evil 1 did.  So why not plan for a third?

For those curious, Fruits Basket is getting a remake, and will air on the Funimation streaming service when it’s ready.  The outlet posted a trailer on their official Twitter account two days ago.  I’ve never seen the original but I know it’s widely popular and was a big property about 8 years ago.

According to Digital Spy , M. Night Shyamalan is not planning on making a sequel to the upcoming Glass film.  Glass is the third in the Unbreakable trilogy, following the aforementioned Unbreakable, and 2016’s SplitSplit ended up being connected to Unbreakable in an ending twist no one saw coming.  This prompted the announcement of Glass, to continue and finalize the series.  When asked if a Glass 2 will happen, Shyamalan said;

I don’t want to relive stuff and I don’t want to be an opportunist, that’s not the relationship that I have with the audience, that I aspire to.  My aspiration is they know they’re going to get an original thriller every single time. That’s where my tastes go, so I’m going to say no [to another movie] right now.
