ComicCorp News: Tom Cruise Out Because of his Height, Retired MMA Star Lands Big Role and More!

Godzilla vs. King Kong is pulling together it’s cast, bringing in names like Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, Kyle Chandler, Jessica Henwick, and Rebecca Hall.  Some of these names can be seen in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters.  Joining them now though is Lance Riddick, of Fringe and The Wire.

Speaking of films, Jack Reacher is getting rebooted and will see Tom Cruise replaced in the series.  The reason for the change is due to height.  So, basically body shaming; great.  The author of the books, Lee Child gave a statement to the BBC saying that height matters.  Typical dork.  Here’s what he had to say;

I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun.  But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.

(There is a real problem in our world equating height with value.  This is the kind of shit that needs to change. )

Star Wars: The Mandalorian will see Gina Carano get a big break as she steps into a the series in what some believe could be a big role.  The show will feature Pedro Pascal in the lead role, and with this being a show about a race of warriors, Carano could make a great female Mandalorian.

Amazon has partnered with Blumhouse Television to create eight feature length horror films for the Amazon streaming platform.  Blumhouse has become a big player in the horror realm in recent years thanks to the Paranormal Activity franchise, the Insidious franchise, The Purge franchise and the remake of Halloween from 2018.  It also has hands in non-horror films like BlackkKlansman and Whiplash.  So this is a big get for Amazon.
