Alexa Bliss Proves the WWE Isn’t On Top of Concussions

By now you’ve heard the news that Alexa Bliss is dealing with some serious post-concussion symptoms after suffering numerous concussions in a row.    She’s quite obviously intent on returning, as her tweet below signifies.

Dave Meltzer claims that Bliss suffered “…an unknown number of concussions in a short period of time…”, which is alarming for a lot of reasons.

Firstly, this is a clear cut sign that the WWE’s concussion protocol doesn’t work.  She wrestled constantly in September until the 16th at which point she suffered her first, or second or third concussion.  She would return for one match in October on the 19th, and then off again.

So the question comes down to this; how does one suffer “multiple concussions” before they’re pulled from active duty?  Now it should be noted that Dave Meltzer didn’t specify how long in between or how many concussions Bliss suffered.  So it’s entirely possibly she suffered two, a month apart.

But unlikely.  While each concussions is different, a standard impact concussion is usually treated with a week or two of minimal activity.  Missing nearly two months though sounds like either a significant, career ending type of concussion or multiple concussions over the course of a few days.

So the question then turns to the WWE.  If you think this is an unfair criticism, I remind you of Liv Morgan and her concussion and how the WWE doctor, who was at ringside mind you, not only allowed her back in the ring, but then allowed her to take bumps on her shoulders and neck.  The WWE is clearly failing at protecting their talent from concussions.

Bliss missing significant amount of time is a byproduct of their medical practices.  Does Bliss deserve some blame for her situation?  Sure, there exists the possibility that she wasn’t as up front or as honest as she could of been with the doctors but a good doctor would be able to notice when something’s wrong and would make it a priority to keep that person out of the ring until they’re satisfied with their recovery.  That was not done here.

So now the questions should start coming.  The same doctor that  CM Punk proved was negligent in his injuries, is also the same doctor that left Liv Morgan back in the ring, that was supposed to diagnose Bliss and oh yeah, had an improper relationship with Jillian Hall while she was under his care.  That’s not just grounds for a loss of medical licensee but also prison time.  Turns out all fifty states look down on doctors fucking patients.

Yet this is the man the WWE had take care of their talent, and now Bliss’ career might be over.  Is it his fault?  Not sure.  Yet when someone outs you for being bad at your job as Punk did, under oath, and there is proof of you not doing your job (see Live Morgan); maybe it’s time people started looking at why this is happening.
