Supergirl to Debut Lex Luthor, Major Anime Streaming News and More! – ComicCorp News

Lex Luthor Coming to Supergirl –  Supergirl introduced Lena Luthor as a way of paying homage to Superman and Lex Luthor’s iconic rivalry.  Now though, they’re forgoing the homage and just bringing in the biggest bad of all Big Bads to handle Supergirl during the fourth season of

Executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller released a statement saying;

We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season.  We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.

Lex isn’t expected in the crossover of the Elseworld event but should be the primary focus after the mid season break, I’d imagine.

Crunchyroll and Funimation Split? – Funimation and Crunchyroll are going their separate ways come November.  The two anime companies were working with one another to distribute content via their digital platforms but on November 9th, that relationship will end.  Crunchyroll posted a statement saying;

As many of you know, we have had an ongoing partnership with Funimation the last two years, sharing anime between users. Unfortunately, Funimation has decided to go their separate way, and this partnership will be winding down on Friday, November 9th

For our Crunchyroll community, this means that you’ll still be able to access the biggest anime library in the world. However, a list of select catalog titles licensed via Funimation will be leaving Crunchyroll – likewise, the Funimation catalog will also be impacted. That list is currently being finalized between both parties, and we will share impacted titles with you as available.

Crunchroll will continue airing it’s simulcasts for Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia despite them being owned by Funimation, and none of the other services they provided will be interrupted either.  Funimation owns a large library of content, most notably the Dragon Ball franchise, Fruits Basket, One Piece, Noragami, and D.Grayman.

This probably has to do with Sony, who bought the company last year, a year after a rumored two year deal was already struck between Crunchyroll and Funimation.  With Sony now controlling Funimation and owning a large exclusive library, it made little sense to allow someone else the ability to monetize their library.

Quick Hits – Hasbro has announced that a single digit percentage of their workforce would see major changes to their employment in the wake of the Toys R Us closing.  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has been delayed and won’t start production until February of 2021.  NASA has formally created a Godzilla constellation in honor of the iconic monster.
