Major NJPW News, Why Did IMPACT Meet With the WWE and More! – WrestleCorp News

NJPW News – Last night NJPW put on the King of Pro Wrestling event and several things of note transpired.  Firstly former CHAOS members Gedo and Jay White sided with the Bullet Club OG/Firing Squad faction and attacked Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada after the White/Tanahashi match.  The match was for Tanhashi’s spot in the main event of the annual January 4th Dome Show event, that will see Tanahashi take on IWGP Champion Kenny Omega.  Also at the event, Shingo Takaghi joined NJPW’s CHAOS faction after spending most of his career with Dragon Gate Pro Wrestling.  In other news, KUSHIDA won the vacant IWGP Light-Heavyweight Championship in a match against Marty Scurll.  In final NJPW news, Chris Jericho returned to NJPW and attacked EVIL.  The attack seems to continue to build up to an eventual Jericho/Tetsuya Naito match.

NWA Announces Matches for 70th Anniversary Show –  The NWA has formally announced that Sammy Guevara, Colt Cabana, Scorpio Sky and Samuel Shaw will be featured in one four way match, while Jay Bradley, Willie Mack, Mike Parrow and Ricky Starks will be featured in the other.  The winners of these elimination matches will go on to face off for the NWA National Championship.

IMPACT Exec on WWE Meeting – According to Scott D’Amore, via Wrestling Perspective podcast with hosts Petey Williams and Dennis Farrell, the meeting with the WWE was simply to establish a better relationship.

Since the beginning of the year we’ve done three content deals with WWE.  I think that WWE is seeing that this is a different day with Impact Wrestling and I think maybe, on the most minute of levels, maybe they’re seeing it’s a different day and age in wrestling.

There was a meeting, we got together, we talked and it was kinda like ‘Hey, it’s kinda nice to be face-to-face and say hello and just say that it’s 2018, it’s a whole different world, and there’s no reason why people shouldn’t communicate.’

It’s just how the business is now … which I think is tremendous.

Quick HitsPWInsider is reporting that Bianca Belair, Jessamyn Duke, Dakota Kai, Candice LaRae and MArina Shafir are all set to appear for Evolution.  Rey Mysterio has formally been announced by the WWE for SmackDown’s 1000th episode.  Neville has officially changed his finisher name to the Black Arrow, which is a reference to The Hobbit book.  The weapon arrow was used to kill the book’s dragon, Smaug.  Despite announcing a gate of 70,309, Dave Meltzer reports the actual gate was around 62,000.
