Top Star to IMPACT? WWE Trying to Sign Major Names and More! – WrestleCorp News

IMPACT Eyeing Chris Jericho? – Dave Meltzer reported recently that if there was a time for Chris Jericho to ever sign up with another promotion, that time would be now.  Jericho is apparently very interested in joining the new Toronto-based promotion, which is ran by his good friend Don Callis; whom he suggested to Anthem officials.

With IMPACT running more and more shows in Canada, Jericho’s desire to not work in the States against Vince is negated but also it appears that Jericho is softening on his stance about not competing against Vince.  Jericho is now more interested than ever in the company, and upsetting Vince is no longer a huge priority for him.

Sinclair Fails to Acquire Tribune – For you TV fanatics, google this story.  Sinclair was trying to acquire Tribune Media but the deal fell apart and now Tribune is suing Sinclair.  Why this matters to you?  The whole point of the deal was not just to expand into more markets, but to acquire WGN America, which is a major cable network.  The move would of allowed ROH to air two hour weekly program on its biggest outlet ever.

The problem?  Well now that this isn’t happening, it’ll be interesting to see what, if anything happens with the All In pre-show airing on WGN America.  The deal was done in part to show WGN and Sinclair what could be possible.  While it’s unlikely that they cancel the coverage, it’s possible that they don’t advertise it as they were once considering.

WWE Eying Several Top Talents – The WWE is not just eying the Lucha Brothers, or former Lucha Underground star Angelico, but also now Shane Strickland.  This of course according to Davey Boy Meltzer.  Strickland just beat future NXT talent Matt Riddle for the Evolve Championship on August 4th.  Despite Evolve’ and WWE’s loose relationship, it appears Strickland won’t sign anytime soon as Evolve has targeted him to replace Riddle and fellow NXT signee Keith Lee.

Quick Hits – WWE has formally announced that Rene Young will replace Johnathan Coachmen on RAW, while Coach fulfills “…another obligation.”  Maria Kanellis has suffered a broken wrist in her attempt to comeback from giving birth.  ROH has sold just under 12,000 tickets for the G1 Supercard event at Madison Square Garden next April.  Jason Jordan’s neck injury is keeping him out longer than expected, as it was far worse than originally thought.   Colt Cabana is suing CM Punk over legal fees that Punk allegedly claimed he’d cover for Colt.  Colt’s seeking one million in punitive damages and $200,000 in general damages.
