Brock Lesnar Not Working SummerSlam? Daniel Bryan Has No Faith in WWE Booking? and More! – WrestleCorp News

Well, Here Comes The Pain

Brock Lesnar Match in Limbo? – There have been outlets reporting for a few weeks about the possibility of Brock’s last match in the WWE occurring at SummerSlam.  The WWE had booked a multi-man match for Extreme Rules but nixed the match the day before it was to be announced, and instead posted a storyline post about Lesnar and Paul Heyman playing hardball.

That may not be much of a story as various outlets, including Dave Meltzer are reporting that there is currently no WWE Universal Championship match booked yet for SummerSlam.  There is even a growing concern among some I’ve talked to about Lesnar leaving the company without ever putting someone over and dropping the belt.  While no one I’ve talked to believes Lesnar would take the belt with him, it would certainly make Vince McMahon look foolish if he can’t get Lesnar to drop the belt, considering he made the audible to keep the belt on Lesnar in two consecutive matches.

There’s also another growing sentiment that Roman Reigns, Lashley and even Braun Strowman are all up for the next run with the belt.  There are some pushing for Lashley, but everyone has kind of concurred that they see Strowman leaving SummerSlam with the RAW Championship, one way or another.

Update: In a last minute update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider is now claiming as well that Brock Lesnar is currently out for SummerSlam.

I’m hearing that Brock isn’t working Summerslam. We may not see him again until later in the year which is madness, if you think about the belt.

Cody Rhodes News – Cody Rhodes revealed on Twitter that the WWE was not keeping him from using the ‘Rhodes’ last name, which I find interesting but whatever.  He also revealed why he wasn’t in the G1 Climax, saying;

I would’ve wanted to be in the tournament this year, but there’s this other part of my life that’s not [pro] wrestling and that’s… I’ve been working to break into acting a little further. I had my guest roles in a couple of past seasons [of Arrow] and there was something I was able to accrue or book. It hasn’t been announced yet and that’s eating up my schedule. I actually don’t have a day off until the Wednesday before All In. After, I think I start July 1st [2018] and then go all the way till the Wednesday before All In. No days off at all.  That was the reason I wasn’t able to be in the G1. I think, I’ll just guarantee it. I’ll Joe Namath it. I will absolutely be in the G1 if not next year, the year after that. I give you my word. I’ll be in the G1. If I have to move Heaven and Earth to do it, I will compete in one. I’ve seen the importance of it.

Daniel Bryan Has His Doubts – Daniel Bryan seems more and more likely to be leaving in a few months.  Beyond having a wrestling-bucket list, he also has been outspoken about the tour schedule as well.  Yet, it’s his self awareness about the product that might be the ultimate factor in his departure.  When asked by Gorilla Press about feuding with The Miz at WrestleMania, Bryan revealed that he has doubts they’d even do it, saying;

I am definitely up for {The Miz match}.  You ask me that question, and I will answer it with a question– do you trust WWE with telling that story from now until WrestleMania 35? What in the last several years has shown to you, that something like that is possible here?  I think that would be awesome. I think that would be something the fans would love to see. I don’t know if we can prolong it for that long.

Quick Hits – Stone Cold Steve Austin referred to “Bulls on Parade” by Rage Against the Machine as inspiration for his theme.  XFL CEO Oliver Luck has revealed that it’ll cost around $500 million to relaunch the XFL, a far cry from Vince McMahon’s original $100 million prospect.
