CM Punk Wins First Big Fight of Week, AAA Taking over MSG? and More! – WrestleCorp News

Update: While finishing up the news tonight the Punk/Cabana Verdict came in;

CM Punk vs. Amaan Verdict – Just minutes ago, CM Punk and Colt Cabana were cleared of any wrong doing or financial responsibility against Chris Amann.  This brings an end to Amann’s backed WWE libel suit.  The jury took barely any time at all at just under two hours and Punk and his wife, the former AJ Lee (April Mendez) began crying now that this is over.

MSG Up for Grabs? – Davey Meltzer thinks it won’t ultimately happen but AAA has reserved the 16th and 23rd of September at Madison Square Garden in hopes of running the venue.   There is a 4,500 seat theater that has been used a bit before for wrestling, that they may be using.  However it could be the arena itself, as the area has a large Mexican and Hispanic residence.

The arena used to be exclusive to the WWE, save for very minor other shows.  Yet in recent years the WWE has been running the Barclays center for more t.v. and pay per view events.  Because of this,  MSG is looking at doing business with whomever at this point, as Barclays has been competing for the same tours and shows as MSG.

This is where MSG has screwed up, for some reason right around the time of Barclays opening, MSG started charging more for broadcast production from their venue.  It’s why the WWE hasn’t ran a TV show at MSG in years, due to the exorbitant costs.  PWInsider claims that despite everything, the WWE does still have a “right of first refusal” for the date due to their agreement, but that agreement I’m told may be coming to an end in the future.

Dominion Card Revealed – This is a strange thing for sure, to only announce an entire card days before the event but NJPW already has the show sold, so who cares.  The full card is below and it looks impressive;

IWGP Heavyweight Championship (2 out of 3 Falls/No Time Limit)
Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada (c)

IWGP Intercontinental Championship
Chris Jericho vs. Tetsuya Naito (c)

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship
Hiromu Takahashi vs. Will Osprey (c)

IWGP Tag Team Championship
The Young Bucks vs.EVIL and SANADA (c)

NEVER Openweight Championship
Taichi vs. Michael Elgin vs. Hirooki Goto (c)

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship
Roppongi 3K vs. El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru (c)

Dave Finlay and Juice Robinson vs. YOSHI-HASHI and Jay White

Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and Minoru Suzuke

Rey Mysterio, Jushin Thunder Liger and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Bullet Club (Marty Scurll, Hangman Page and Cody Rhodes)

As you can see, Rey Mysterio’s debut match with NJPW has him teaming with Jushin Liger, not competing against him.  No reason has been revealed yet as to why their teaming, but this is a match that I’m already excited to see just for the name value alone.

Quick Hits – CM Punk and Colt Cabana’s case with Doctor Chris Amaan has ended today, with the jury beginning their deliberation.  This could take a day or two.  Chris Amaan is seeking $4 million in damages.  WWE has signed PROGRESS star Jinny, who wass their Women’s World Champion.   She dropped the belt to Jamie Hayter over the weekend.  HBK told Sky Sports that he’d entertain the idea of one more match but isn’t sure; HBK names Daniel Bryan, Johnny Gargano, and AJ Styles.
