Shazam Casting Grows, Namor Coming to the MCU and More! – ComicCorp News

Shazam! Has Found Billy’s Family – One of the cool things about Shazam or Captain Marvel as he was once known, is that he can share his powers with his family.  Rounding out the adult version of the previously announced characters are Meagan Good as Darla Dudley’s older self, Michelle Borth as Marty Bromfield’s, Ross Butler as Eugene Choi’s. DJ Cotrona as Pedro Pena’s and Adrian Brody as Freddy Freeman’s.  It’ll be interesting to see how the five will be used with this film serving as the introduction to Shazam and his cinematic debut.  Of course, this is just a speculated rumor at the time.   Yet it seems unlikely that this wouldn’t come to fruition.

Star Wars Bringing in Extended Universe Character? – News broke out over the weekend that Star Wars Episode IX is casting a character with the code name of ‘MARA’.  Now this lead to many believing that this means that Mara Jade is coming to the film franchise.  However, that’s not exactly true.  Most times characters are given false names in order to keep them private upon tryouts.  So the odds that they’d give a secret character the same name as the actual character is unlikely.

Kevin Feige Talks Namor and More – Kevin Feige recently talked about the challenges that Marvel faces when re-acquiring Namor the Sub Mariner.  Namor was part of the group of characters Marvel sold the rights to in orders to stay afloat in the 90’s.  Getting him back has been shown to be problematic for the company and Kevin Feige touches on this.  Below is the exchange, as posted by ComicBookMovie.com;

With the Disney/Fox deal, if that pans out, with the Sony rights sharing deal with Spidey, the one big loose end, then, is Namor and Universal. Can you tell us what the status of that is? Is there any chance for him to just pop up in an MCU film? It just sounds like an incredibly complicated situation, for one character.
It is. I think there’s a way to probably figure it out but it does have — it’s not as a clean or clear as the majority of the other characters.

Quick Hits – The Black Widow film is expected to be a prequel and may feature the Winter Soldier.   Comcast apparently had a bid in for Fox Studios that was apparently 16% more than Disney’s offer.
