Taker/Cena Still a Thing? Cody Returning to the WWE Eventually? and More! – WrestleCorp News

Undertaker/Cena Still Happening? – In what would be the dumbest move in the history of forever: Dave Meltzer is claiming that the reason we didn’t get the formal booking of the match for WrestleMania is because Vince (apparently) believes the fans are invested at the very notion that he may not show up.  Many still believe that there will be a match, but as no one that I can think of has ever been cleared to return to the ring after a joint replacement, it’s far more likely that Undertaker just can’t get cleared, and they nixed the match.  To have a match and not announce it is a bad precedent and one the WWE can’t afford to be making at this point and time.

Rousey’s Original Partner for Mania? – Davey Meltzer is claiming that Ronda Rousey’s first two original partners were supposed to be The Rock, then Batista.  The Rock couldn’t make assurances that he’d be there, and was eliminated as a possibility for the match.  Rock also had a segment with Elias and Jeff Jarrett cut as well for the same reason.  Batista was next up but according to Meltzer, declined the offer.  Which is peculiar, as Batista has been talking about one more run with HHH, and this would of seen that happen.

Jeff Jarrett Talks About SDLive Stars – Jeff Jarrett is doing WrestleMania diaries for WWE’s YouTube and spoke candidly about guys like Ron Killings, AJ Styles and Bobby Roode. There are quotes people are passing around but honestly I think just watching the full video (it’s barely 3 minutes) is well worth your time, especially if you like the old NWA-TNA days.

Cody Rhodes on Going back to the WWE? – Cody Rhodes has the biggest match of his career (arguably) coming up this weekend, as SuperCard of Honor on Saturday features Cody Rhodes vs. Kenny Omega, one on one, for the first time ever.  In anticipation for the match, Cody was interviewed and was very candid with why he doesn’t want to go back to the WWE, saying;

It’s always safe to say never say never. But … no. Only because we’ve taken on such a project with All In. Wrestling is currently going through a revolution. It’s less about the brand and more about the talent and their fans. That’s my focus. I don’t think I really could belong anywhere ever again. I make Ring of Honor my home team these days, but I still play my music how I want to play it.

I had a great time in WWE. I had multiple singles matches at WrestleMania. Met my wife there. It was a really wonderful place to grow up. It’s the house that built me. But also, it’s where I learned the fundamentals of this industry, which have led me to seek it outside WWE. The wrestling that I love the most doesn’t happen there. It’s not a knock on them. It’s just the wrestling that I love the most, is out there in the world. And that’s where I tend to be these days.

Quick Hits – WWE Hall of Famer Johnny Valiant died yesterday after being struck by a truck when crossing the street.  He was 71.  In lighter news, Mark Henry joked that he may wear his salmon colored jacket for his Hall of Fame induction; the same jacket he wore to punk out John Cena in the most obvious swerve of the last ten years.   Dana White claims that Brock Lesnar will be back in the UFC, just not sure when.
